I always felt it in my bones that something fishy was going on when Speaking Rock Casino was forcibly shut down. There excuse was to protect El Paso families from the EVILS of gambling.

I'll NEVER again waste my time or my gasoline to go out and vote for public officials.

Sure, it was a gambling casino, but isn't the Texas Lotto, and Bingo a form of gambling, also? New Mexico is just a step and a holler away from El Paso, and now all that money has gone to the gambling casino there, or to the horse races.

I'm sure many more RATS will soon come out of the woodwork when this RAT starts snitching in order to save his skin. When these corrupt and unethical political scoundrels are eventually tracked down, they begin babbling forgiveness from the Almighty for destroying so many lives! Disgusting BASTARDS!

"More than 1,000 tribal members and El Pasoans were employed at the casino before it closed. Now, there are about 60 who run the nightclub and restaurant, Senclair said. Programs for Tigua children and elders have also been cut. Their one school bus sits idle, too expensive to run."

"Words will not ever be able to express my sorrow and my profound regret for all my actions and mistakes," Abramoff said. "I hope I can merit forgiveness from the Almighty and those I've wronged or caused to suffer."
LOBBYISTS WHO BILKED TIGUAS PLEADS GUILTY

As you know, the Tigua tribe operated a casino, Speaking Rock, which was of great benefit to the Tigua and to the El Paso community as a whole. After opening Speaking Rock, unemployment within the tribe was virtually eliminated, property values in the area climbed above the county average, and local businesses thrived. Speaking Rock Casino brought $50 million to $60 million per year to the community and employed 785 people with an annual payroll of about $14 million. This enterprise gave new life to an area that was, and still is, extremely impoverished.

I agree. And I'll even add that this appears to be a common reaction, and is in fact the reason rats tend to remain in office.

I see no hope. We vote them out of office, and vote new ones in, and they too, become corrupt.

I've come to feel that my vote is useless.

Yeah, you gotta scream and shout and then vote! And then make sure the scumbags don't steal the vote. ;P

Re: Eternal Vigilance=Price of Liberty
My screaming, shouting and vote are worthless amongst these unscrupulous sleazebags.

No, I don't see myself going to the trouble of voting again.

I realize I've taken a nasty attitude toward politicians. I'm sure there are some who posses qualities of trust and integrity, but I sure as hell have been reading about too many scoundrels who lie and steal. I'm sure many have yet to be discovered, and most likely never be caught. This type of man is doing a great injustice to the people, because they've only created suspicion. Was it always like this? Or has it all changed, where greed and injustice now prevails among these guy who we took the time to go out and vote for?

Agree with other posters. I ahve a friend who only votes for the new person and votes the most established candidate out. It forces change is his thinking.

There's one guy we voted as our representative. He turned out to be a farce.

Next election, we all voted him the hell out.

So now, some high official, has placed him in a very prestigious position. I saw him a couple of days ago on TV, grinning from ear to ear!

This goon, Sinclair, was responsible for the destruction of many lives, here in El Paso, which happens to be a POOR border town. These employees at Speaking Rock were earning a living for themselves and their families, but this bastard, because of his connections and evil greed, brought it all to a screaching halt.

You know, I'm as stupid as they come, but I could smell the vile odors of corruption in the air.

The hell with politics. I won't be wasting my time or energy on them again.

With a heart like yours, that's kind of a shame. Just keep plugging away at the issues dear to you and hopefully some kind of good will come of it.

I thought so, too, but these lobbyists and politicians find loopholes in order to fill their pockets.

I just don't trust politicians at all anymore.

What really gets me is the way the Bribe-taking congresscritters are now giving the money they to charity after they have been caught. As if that makes OK to have taken it in the first place.

They all should be tried for taking bribes, corruption, and treason.

Then, taken out and shot when convicted.

it's sad to hear that politicians are the same the world over. Australia has it's own political farces.

:(

Come and sit on my knee, and I'll snuggle you and give you a kiss on the cheek and make you feel better until it's all gone away, or hell freezes over. Whichever happens first.
