This post is in response to questions asked by justgoto in WHY IS PLAYGIRL THE CAM SLUT QUOTING THE BIBLE?!
"I think you are forgetting that the fall of the twin towers was a very powerful image, and that statement was made very shortly after."
No, I am not forgetting those dreadful images (Twin Towers), nor will I ever forget.
"He is a preacher that I assume believes strongly in the scriptures. If that is what he feels, shouldn't he be able to say it? Not only you and I enjoy freedom of speech."
Yes, Pat Robertson does have the right to freedom of speech but that obviously means he contradicts what he is supposed to be preaching. I find him to be a hypocrite to advocate such a thing as an assassination of any human-being, when the Bible clearly forbids that kind of behavior. Does not the Bible say, "Thou shalt not kill"?
"Don't criticize and speak evil about each other, dear brothers. If you do you will be fighting against God's law of loving one another, declaring it is wrong. But your job is not to decide whether this law is right or wrong, but to obey it. He who made the law can rightly judge among us. He alone decides to save us or destroy. So what right do you have to judge or criticize others?"
This man is not a politician nor a general nor someone who is suppose to makes these kinds of decisions; to say who is to live and who is to die. This man is a preacher who is supposed to be spreading the Word of God. I find this man just as treacherous to the United States as Chavez.
Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us from eternal death. He forgives all who acknowledge to Him, their error and He answers all who plea to Him for forgiveness. It is not for us to say who sins more and who sins less or who dies and who lives.
"Thou Shalt Not KILL" means exactly what it says, THOU SHALT NOT KILL. If we believe in Jesus Christ and the New Testament, then we must believe and honor that He will judge and do as He sees fit for each and every one of us. Is He not the one who said, "Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they do?" Has Robertson placed himself above Him, in not showing mercy, humility and forgiveness?
† "Then Peter came to Him and asked, "Sir, how often should I forgive a brother who sins against me? Seven times?" "No!"
Jesus replied, "Seventy times seven!"
Matthew 18: 21-22
By and by, I never suggested that Chavez was a humanitarian. Of course not. But Chavez does not hide what he is (evil).
Robertson is SUPPOSE to be a preacher, a CHRISTIAN. Pat Robertson is supposed to spread words of love; not words of assassination. Assassination is a most horrendous and cowardly act. He is not a General nor has he ever been one. He is a Preacher. What Robertson is doing is mixing Religion and Politics in a stew pot and the only potion he will produce is poison. Words without action are so disgusting. If Robertson is so concerned for the American people's safety, then why doesn't he approach Chavez PERSONALLY and say to his face what he's saying now, instead of saying it in a place of total safety? I find this man to be a coward. There are heroic men and women fighting for this countries safety and they are doing so because they choose to do so. They are aware of the dangers. What is Robertson contributing to humanity? Nothing but spreading dangerous words of hate. Terrible words such at Robertson's, only enrage and entice those countries that hate us so much, to find more ways of destroying us.
These are just a few quotes I found from this most dangerous man:
"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."
Pat Robertson In a 1992 fund raising letter
Pat Robertson when he ran for President:
"We have enough votes to run the country. And when the people say, "We've had enough," we are going to take over.
"The Most Dangerous Man in America, by Robert Boston" Pat Robertson, speech given to the April, 1980 "Washington for Jesus" rally.
How UNBECOMING from a man who calls himself a preacher, a Christian, a man of God. God forbid if this dangerous man had won the presidency! God forbid!
I know in my own heart who and what I am. I could fool myself and fool those who know me, but NOT my Lord Jesus Christ. You won't EVER find me pounding away at my chest in prayer, crying "HOLY" "HOLY." I do not proclaim myself to be a saint. I'm FAR from it. But I do try to put ACTION where my mouth is, instead of idle talk because I do know, that when my turn comes to be face to face with Him, I'll DEFINITELY have more than enough sins of my own to deal with as it is, from my journey here on earth. Someday, I'll have to give accounts for each and every one of my bad deeds and I DO NOT want to EVER tell Him that I was for the death of one of His children, a human being.
† "And the person who keeps every law of God, but makes one little slip, is just as guilty as the person who has broken every law there is."
James 2: 10
Let's not fool ourselves; if we demand the demise of a human being, then we are as guilty of committing the very same act that the terrorist committed. None of us ESCAPES what will be due us in the END, absolutely NONE of us.
† "Don't judge, and then you won't be judged. For others will treat you as you treat them. And why worry about a speck in the eye of your brother when you have a board in your own? Should you say, 'Friend, let me help you get out that speck from your eye,' when you can't even see because of the board in your own? Hypocrite! First get rid of the board. Then you can see to help your brother."
Matthew 7: 1-5
"An eye for an eye," is not the answer. I'd hate to imagine that this would be the accepted rule. There would not be a living soul on this earth, with eyes. If someone steals from another, then the other has the right to steal back? If someone cuts another's arm, then the other has the right to cut, also? No, I don't care to live by "An eye for an eye." We just wouldn't be human anymore, would we? Don't we teach our children that "violence" only begets "violence?" When Pat Robertson wishes a man to be assassinated, is he not contradicting what the Bible? I REFUSE to be in agreement or have any part with the legal"
aspect of committing murder through assassination.
† "The law of Moses says, "If a man gorges out another's eye, he must pay with his own eye. If a tooth gets knocked out, knock out the tooth of the one who did it. BUT I SAY: Don't resist violence! If you are slapped on one cheek, turn the other too."
Matthew 6: 38-39
† Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges. Remember the Lord forgave you, you must forgive others. Colossian 4: 13
† "You have no right to judge your brother or look down on him. Remember, each of us will stand personally before the Judgment Seat of God. For it is written, "As I live, says the Lord, "every knee shall bow to me and every tongue confess to God." Yes, each of us will give an account of himself to god. So don't judge each other any more."
Romans 15: 10-13
† "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it but to save it." John 4 3:17-17
Pat Robertson should be aware that the Manna from the sky and the water brought forth from Mt. Sinai by Moses, for those on their journey from Egypt to the Promised Land, did not come from Moses, but from God. Lest, a few of those leading the flock (PREACHER PAT ROBERTSON) err in forgetting that they are only the shepherds and not GOD.
"The Preacher who deals with the great truths of
holy character must impersonate those truths.
There is power inherent in truth;
but it is often like electricity,
needing a conductor to develop it.
The preacher who best commends the truth
of the gospel to his hearers is he who
has translated that truth into his own
life, until his life is full of it
and redolent of it."
I find this quote on TEMPER very much befitting Pat Robertson:
"If religion has done nothing for your TEMPER,
it has done nothing for your soul."
If we, as TRUE Christians have deeply embedded the "The Lord's Prayer" and the "10 Commandments" inside our memory, our heart and our soul, then we have truly gained the knowledge of what TRUE Christianity is all about. They are the mega rules and teachings, condensed into only a few of the multitude of words contained in the Holy Bible. Christianity DOES NOT close the doors to ANYONE, no matter what their denomination may be. TRUE Christianity, understands, accepts, loves, teaches, embraces every human being on earth, for EVERY human being, is the creation of our, Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Christianity is the example for the entire world. Christianity does not instill fear, judgment, discord, anger or hate. Christianity is humility, mercy and love for ALL. When we break only ONE of the 10 Commandments, we have broken them ALL.
I realize that I myself have contradicted myself by writing all of the above. After all, I was a soldier with the United States Army for 4 years, trained to kill. If I had to do it all over again, I WOULD. If I had to kill for the safety of my beloved country, America, at this point, of course I would. If an intruder entered my home for the purpose of murdering me, of course I would do everything in my power to kill him in order to save my own life. The only difference between my way of thinking and that of Pat Robertson is that, although I am a woman, I have MORE BALLS than Pat Robertson. Pat Robertson is a COWARD, because he wishes a man to be assassinated. To assassinate someone is to kill a person who has absolutely no knowledge that he is going to be MURDERED. Assassination is kind of like shooting someone in the back. There's nothing heroic about assassination, is there?
And if Pat Robertson wishes the assassination of Chavez, is he willing to go do it himself or send one of his family members to do it? I don't think so! And another thing, America has countless enemies who yearn for our demise. Are we then suppose to do as Pat Robertson requests? ASSASSINATE every single person who he feels should be assassinated? If we should do as what Robertson wishes us to do, then this country would cease to be a country that tries to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. We would then become just as BARBARIC as those countries that have no value or consideration for life. We would have to dig up graves from here to eternity for a duplication of the Holocaust, only this time a Holocaust would be committed by Christians and not a bunch of little Hitlers.
If you should tell me that I'm being just as much a hypocrite as Pat Robertson, I would agree with you wholeheartedly. But then, my occupation is NOT that of PREACHER! I am only what I am, an insignificant little person who hasn't the intelligence nor the desire to someday become President of the United States, or try to change the world by contradicting the Bible. One of the most challenging things in life is to be an UNSWERVINGLY, VIRTUOUS, MEEK Christian, for to be an honest to God DEDICATED Christian, is to adhere to every single one of the 10 Commandments.
Preachers, rabbis, priests and ministers, etc., and etc., have NO business in politics. They have no right to have a bearing on who is to live and who is to die!
Men such as Swaggart, Bakker, Robertson and some PRIESTS have caused more destruction towards their flock than the devil himself!
There are a number of proposed reasons to
support a separation of church and state:
The church might harm the state. For example, religious
conviction might cause the state to become involved in
a disastrous war, or to remain pacific when force is
necessary for the preservation of the state. It may
also influence public policies in a manner detrimental
to those who do not follow all the church's teachings
