Super Bowl XLVI

Who is going to watch the game?
Who is going to win?

Since I'm always right, I say the Giants!

I haven't watched the game in years. Despite many peoples' love of the commercials, they annoy me to no end. I'd rather watch the game itself and that's impossible now.

I hope your prediction is right, but only because I like you :)

Record the game and when you're ready to see it, just fast forward the commercials.

I'm gonna post another favorite commercial soon. I really believe you'll like it!

Big hugs for liking me! Oh, and I like you a lot, too!!

No doubt the Giants. I want them to win anyway. I'm tried of Tom Brady & Co already.

I'm getting this from something I saw on MSNBC this morning. If the Giants win, and they will, President Obama will win again come November! YAY!

Not a sports fan, so I'll probably watch the two episodes in a row of "America's Funniest Home Videos" that ABC is airing tonight. :-)

Don't let that get you down for an instant! There are so many who can't find jobs, either. I'm just holding on to my job by a hairline, and if I should be another unemployed person, I'll be very upset for a little while, but then I'll remember that I'm still alive, and I have all my furry babies and Grandpa. You my very special guy, who has so much intelligence, that wish I had half of, are a survivor!

I love you my dear friend!

Looks like you were right about the Giants. I hope you had money on it.

As for me, I took a nap and missed the whole thing.

I'm pretty good at predictions. I don't like betting my hard earned money, so I didn't.

You took a nap! How could you?!

I missed 100% of it. I hear Madonna was on, and the Giants won.
Feb. 6th, 2012 08:38 pm (UTC)
On purpose, or by accident?

Madonna's performance was awesome! I just now posted a youtube video.

Mostly on purpose. ;) I tried to like football a number of years ago, and it never really caught on with me. And while I can respect the superbowl as the grand-daddy of who's who in the the football world, I kind of shy away from the whole hype and celebration of it, because it's gone so far beyond football with the merchandising and parties and commercials trying to compete for outlandishness and everything else, it's an event that I may watch as a sideline interest without caring who's playing or winning. I guess the fair-weather exception was the year the Seahawks got to the superbowl, because I was so amazed and confused at how they did it I had to see them play, mostly out of amusement. It's rare that a Seattle team gets anywhere or any notoriety for it, so it was sort of a novelty to me.

My Dad feels the exact same way as you do about football. Boxing is his big love, just as it is for all my brothers and me.

All my brothers also LOVE football.

I learned to appreciate boxing a few years ago, when I started doing it as a fitness interest. When I experienced the amount of training, endurance, and then finally strategy (when you're limited to footwork and zones and only two fists to win, it's a challenge different than other sports or ways of accomplishing a victory!) I gained a respect for the sport. I couldn't really name any big-time boxers nowadays - only the old classics from the 70's and 80's maybe. But regardless, I enjoy watching a match or two now as I can empathize with what they're going through to train and fight like that. Otherwise, as you probably know too well, modern roller derby has sucked me in as my sport of choice.

Oh yes, I know of your love for roller derby! I'm sure I'd be doing the same thing if we had a roller derby here. This city doesn't have a darn thing; only higher, and higher property taxes!!

You do know your boxing! My family and I never miss a boxing match. I even have my own professional punching bag in my backyard. One of these days I'll post a picture of it. I even have pics of the big time boxing guys I have taken. That's how much I love boxing! :o)

I'll be damned if I can remember where you live (I know you've been vague about it in the past) but it reminds me of somewhere close to the Mexican border. (and by close, I mean 1 of 3 or 4 states.) Nonetheless, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a derby league near you, or forming. Between San Diego, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas (the birthplace of modern roller derby!) it's got a few major leagues or littered with up and comers or non-sanctioned leagues.

I used to see boxing as a limitation in fighting, until I saw it more like chess after doing it. I used to look at the sport of fighting with more of a street protection factor, and scoffed at mere punching that boxing offered. I know that the punching that is delivered is serious stuff, but when you take it off the street and say "you can only hit here, here and here" to win, you've got to be twice as crafty in defense and offense to stay up long enough to win. And that's what amazes me about it now that I know just enough to be dangerous. I've still got the hand wraps and gloves for it and will be going back when I'm employed. One of the best recreational workouts I've ever had.
