Disney Baby Quilts

Why do people abuse me so?

I went to my favorite thrift shop (2nd hand shop) and found 3 adorable Disney baby quilts. They looked almost new, one with PePe la Pew, the other with Winnie the Pooh and Friends and the third with Minnie and Mickey Mouse. I found a cute baby towel with a little yellow rubber ducky embroidered to a small corner of it. I was on a roll because I also found a rubber duck to add to my large collection.

When I got in the LONG line to pay for the items, a woman in front of me, looked inside my cart and said that I sure had found some nice things for my baby. I told here I didin't have a baby and the items were for my 2 babies who had for little legs and continued to tell her that they were for my 2 toy poodles. She looked at me with anger in her eyes, and told me that here I was buying blankets for dogs when there were babies in the world who didn't have blankets. I calmly replied in whisper that my toy poodles were MY babies and that what she had said were fighting words. Before I knew it, I had stuck my tongue out at her. She didn't say another word. She paid for her stuff, I paid for mine and we each went our separate ways in a huff.

Don't you just love people who can go thru life making judgements of others everyday ....grrr

Thank goodness there are only a handful of people whose only purpose in life is waking up each morning to try and ruin some poor unsuspecting person's day.

Aww I am sorry to read that. There are many living beings in this world that need/need to give/learn to receive/learn to give/ (importantly) have the desire to be affectionate/nurturing/compassionate/caring/blah blah blah. Here we are on many different sides, complaining about where this action is being exacted. What a brute to judge you. Even if she does feel that way, she should have kept it to herself, she had no right in making you feel bad.
At the very least, you have provided a home and live to 2 lives that could have been in other miserable situations. For all that woman knows, because of this, you may in the future be able and willing to blanket others.

Yes, she was a brute. It was none of her business what I bought nor for whom.

My way of giving a little something to this world is through animals. I wish I could do more.

I'll take this opportunity to show you and whomever reads this entry, to show off my BRAG page. I have a little introduction to each one of them, as to how I found them. These are ALL my little Puppy Puddles! Enjoy!

Very cute and wonderful of you.

There is credit do to our "friends" for the comfort, saftey, and laughter that they bring.

I will post a pic of Buddy, Buckshot, Tiny and Coco sometime soon.

Let me know when you post the pic's. I want to see them!

Sounds like she was just upset that she did not see the blankets first.

I wish I had been there to see the look on her face when you stuck your tongue out at her. :oP Feel free to invite me the next time you go shopping, interesting things seem to happen to you at stores. =)

Come to think about it, she did have a look of covertness in her eyes for my little blankets. Don't blame her, they are adorable.

I do believe I was the first to stick a tongue at her. I do believe it stung her face more than if I'd of slapped her. By sticking out one's tongue at an unpleasant person, you have insulted them in a big way without uttering a word! heh heh

Just as I've had many unpleasant experiences with rude people, I've had many wonderful ones, also. I'll post the many unpleasant ones in the near future, they're much more interesting than the good ones.

Sometimes people should just be quiet. I thought you handled it with great restraint. What busines is it of hers what you do with what your are buying. She would probably be pissed at me for reselling what I buy in thrift stores, and sometimes at a profit. grin...

Yes, they should keep their mouths shut. I suppose it could of been worse, she could of been my next door neighbor.

I love thrift stores! There are many treasures to be found if one takes the time to really hunt for them. Hope you never get a customer like her.

buying blankets for dogs
You rock.
I some times get extra food and bring it home for the dog /cats.
I just made a shelter with a electric heater for a homeless cat.
That is wonderful of you to get the dogs a treat.

Re: buying blankets for dogs
inode_finder, I love animals and I love you for being one, too. How sweet that you took the time to build that cat a little shelter.
Great big hugs to you!

I am not sure how I would have reacted
Oct. 29th, 2004 04:49 am (UTC)
I believe you would of handled the situation in a more dignified manner than I did.
