1. I'll be flying from El Paso to the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and from there to San Jose, Costa Rica. I'll be staying there one night. Then I'll drive to Jaco, Costa Rica, and in a day or two, I'll drive to the Pacific coast to snorkel.

I love adventure, so my only purpose in going to Costa Rica is the rainforests, waterfalls, and the zip lines. I want to experience Pachamama in all its glory. I want to see from above the tips of the rain forests, see the monkeys, birds, waterfalls. Knowing myself, I'll most likely zzzip through the forest MANY times!

For those who don't know what a zip line is, here are a couple of links to give you an idea what I'll be experiencing.
Youtube Video Zip Line (Also known as Canopy Tours - Costa, Rica

When you suddenly don't hear from me, you'll know exactly where I'm at. :-)

Costa Rica TWO
Costa Rica THREE

2. On another note, [info]nebris sent me this very interesting and disturbing link:
The ATF scandal blows wide open!

"Remember, democracy never lasts long.
It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself.
There never was a democracy yet that did
not commit suicide."
- John Adams

What are your thoughts on this?

3. I’ll try to make a post today about Mexico, and particularly about Cd. Juárez, Chihuahua and El Paso, Texas.

Sounds fun--my wife and I are going to Costa Rica for a week in May. We always zipline on our trips so we're looking forward to that. Which of their courses is "the best?"

That's great that you're both going! This will be the first time I zip through the forest and can hardly wait.

Zip lines are a great pucker factor! I did one at a management class years ago. Enjoy it and I hope you do not get too horse from all the screaming.

As for John Adams quote, it is quite correct and even more "democracy's" have faltered since. if you read history you will see that many have tried to spend their ways out of debt, others tried to take on too much power and authority. It does not work. Luckily we are not a Democracy, we are a Democratic REPUBLIC. Check your Funk and Waggonals to understand the difference. That is why John Adams pushed for the new country to be a Republic.

I'll probably scream, huh? I know I did when I jump from a plane for the first time, but I had reason to, because I really scraped my forehead and nose badly when I flew through the ground! I still scream when I remember.

So, any hints as to what I should do if I'm stranded in mid air? I'm pretty unlucky, so if it happens, will you come save me, my hero?!

You will ot stop in mid air Zip lines are pitched to prevent that. Its the sudden stop at the end just like falling out of an airplane that is tricky. The sip line I did you had to release the catch and drop into the center of a stream or you would slam into an oak tree.

The water was damn cold!!!!

Oh no!
I'm back.

I bet that water was cold!!

Just as soon as I get over the horror that's happened to Japan, I start writing about Cost Rica, and sharing pics.

Re: Oh no!
OK but please note that all that you are hearing from Japan is true. The media is hyping a lot of the Reactor news and making it worse than it is. The Tsunami, Earthquake and Volcano is all true and horrific but the panic that the media talks about is not true. The Japanese are a very careful and dedicated people and they are not in a panic mode and are taking it all in stride. The people in Tokyo are going on with their lives as if very little has happened. They would not dishonor their ancestors by looting or panicking.

The media is also hyping the possible effects of the reactor problems as well in order to terrorize the west coast. Even if all 4 reactors melt down there will not be anywhere near the radiation put into the air as there was in one of the Bikini Atoll tests. This BS about a run on the Potassium Iodine tablets is bogus as well Americans have been getting a daily intake of Iodine since the late 1940's in their table salt. The Govt did this just in case there was ever any airborne contaminants that reached the US from any of the bombs that were exploded in Russia or anywhere in the pacific. Those that were exploded in Nevada and New Mexico did not even put a lot of contaminants into the air that affected the US population very much!

So please keep that in mind as you wantc the media.

Those ziplines are impressive. One wonders how many days it would take to travel on foot versus taking the ziplines.
