Status Quo

Pictures of American soldiers performing sexual lewd acts next to their tortured and humiliated Iraqi prisoners, although, this does not reflect the nature of the American people as a whole, has created irreversible damage in the eyes of the world. The Iraqi people are religious fanatics, their lives revolve around religion. When, throughout history, has there been a woman next to a naked POW Arab, pointing her arms and fingers toward his penis and testicles? I don't believe ever. These perverted, handful of American soldiers, have put all of their fellow soldiers and all the people of the United States in great harm.

Ann Clwyd is quoted as saying: "On a small number of cases, horrible that they are, you cannot compare that with the tens of thousands of people that Saddam Hussein was responsible for executing and torturing."

Is Ms. Clwyd trying to say that should not condemn these 7 soldiers actions too much because Saddam Hussein was responsible for committing these atrocities tens of thousands of times more?

We all realize what Saddam Hussein was responsible for . But does that give these 7 American troops the right to dehumanize and torture the Iraqi prisoners.

These are the HUMANITARIAN LAWS OF WAR:
Geneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War

This is disgusting, they were made to “stripped, made to pull their buttocks apart and been kicked in the rectum. In other instances he said female soldiers had detained Iraqis at checkpoints and forced them to expose themselves and simulate fellatio. Sodomized - Sexually assaulted – Killed

Isn't the United States supposedly the example of fair and civilized just behavior? How can we expect the world to feel this way now, after those horrible picture have been seen by just about everyone in the world? Tragedy lies in the fact that it is true, that the majority of the American people are not barbaric, but in a few clicks of a camera by these 7 assholes, that whole concept has been destroyed, and possibly forever.

I have read and heard a few say that it's okay, that they have done horrors to our soldiers and the American people. This is not the issue, the issue is that our soldiers are over there, trying to place civilized order over there. Nothing good nor constructive will come of the deplorable actions of those responsible for the torture and vile acts committed against these Iraqi's. It has always been a known fact that just about the whole world hates the U.S. I believe now it has gone beyond hatred and toward blood curdling revenge.

I was for this war, right after the 9 11 terrorist attack. Not anymore, I want ALL of our soldiers brought back home. This has now become a no win war, I don't see any purpose for this never-ending war anymore. I only see the continuous loss of life of our heroic American soldier over there and I want them back home NOW!

Quotes relevant to my rants and raves:

"In the First Amendment, the Founding Fathers gave the free
press the protection it must have to fulfill its essential
role in our democracy. The press was to serve the governed,
not the governors. The Government's power to censor the
press was abolished so that the press would remain forever
free to censure the Government. The press was protected so
that it could bare the secrets of government and inform the
people. Only a free and unrestrained press can effectively
expose deception in government. And paramount among the
responsibilities of a free press is the duty to prevent
any part of the government from deceiving the people and
sending them off to distant lands to die of foreign fevers
and foreign shot and shell."

"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you
damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human
duty, the duty to take the consequences."

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of
servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom,
go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel nor
your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you.
May your chains set lightly upon you; and may posterity
forget that ye were our countrymen."

"The Right Of The People

"No free man shall ever be de-barred the use of arms.
The strongest reason for the people to retain their
right to keep and bear arms is as a last resort to
protect themselves against tyranny in government."
