I heard this with my own ears yesterday:

A reporter asked about possible $4 gas, Bush said, "That's interesting. I hadn't heard that. ... I know it's high now."

Bush said "he was unaware of predictions by some analysts that gasoline could reach $4 a gallon by this spring because of strong demand and reformulation."

Spare me Lord, because even I have been aware of the possibility of gas going as high as $4.00, and I'm pretty sure every American heard it, too!

Bush says: I’m ‘focused’ on gas prices but unaware of $4 gas. Yeah right!!

That little anecdote speaks volumes to what's been wrong with his administration for the past seven years. I know politicians tend to be out of touch with their citizens, but he almost turns it into an artform.

Never for the life of me, did I ever imagine we’d someday have a man like this one, leading this country, who would surpass my own stupidity, but I do believe he’s surpassed me a notch or two!

Actually, in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, upon realization that much of the refinery apparatus was either destroyed or inoperable, there were a few gas stations in GA that had kicked prices up to $6.00 per gallon, because they realized their suppliers might not exist any longer.

Since oil reached $100+ a barrel in trading recently, it's kind of odd that prices at the pump haven't jumped nearly so high. I remember prices reaching $3.40/gallon in the Boston area when oil hadn't even reached $65/barrel.

This oil fiasco is a mystery to me. All I know is, that the man should have known how to answer all questions posed to him from the reporters, especially the inevitable about the rising gas prices.

Perhaps he truly isn’t aware of how expensive gasoline is for the average citizen, since he most likely never fills the gas tanks to his own vehicles.

I take the bus and ride my bike or walk everywhere, but lemme tell you...

I picked up a 1981 diesel rabbit for $500 last week. Its definitely NOT pretty, but its getting over 52 mpg right now. I am pretty stoked about that.

Chimpy is full of shit.

Rabbits are cute
I ride my bike more than ever now, but I still have to drive my car to get to work, since my job is on the other side of this city.

I think Rabbits are cute. Too bad you don't live in a border city like I do, because you could have taken it across and had it painted for only a few bucks!

Why is the man called Chimpy, and Monkey?

I've heard that during the oil embargo, there was an effort made to synthesize oil from coal. The process was expensive, as this new oil cost $45 a barrel to produce, but it was successful. We stopped doing that because OPEC realized that they'd lose a bunch of money that way.

Given the current situation with oil prices topping $100 a barrel on more than one occasion, it may be a good idea to take another look at this process.

I believe I once read that a man invented a car that could run on water, but suddenly disappeared from the face of the earth. Perhaps I was dreaming.

I'm curious as to what the government is supposed to do about supply and demand and the price of fuel.

I guess we could nuke China and India. That would cut down on the demand.

Mar. 1st, 2008 03:10 pm (UTC)
The ONLY thing he's ever been persistently focused on is his scare tactics to continue this war that's left this country and the world in total mayhem!

I feel for Obama, because he’s going to have to an almost impossible job patching up (if it’s possible!) everything Bush managed to destroy (morale, hope, economy, lives) in this country!

Precious, please consider this.

Bush has a number of other things on his plate right now like IRAQ, and lets not forget Israel and palestine. Israel has threatened Holacaust if the rocket attacks dont stop, ands you know they can do it too! Israel; does not have a pussywhipped congress to worry about they are more concerned with SURVIVAL as a nation. Bush also has the economy and a few other little things like borrying a few billion from China to give people 600 dollard each. what bullshit! PLUS the fact that our Military is at pitiful levels right now, both in manpower and equipment.

Just because some asshole makes a forcast about 4 dollar a gallon gas, does not mean he will hear about it. I dont think he watched the 6:00 news. besides as has already been entioned Gas has already hit close to 4.00 a gallon in some places.

WHat really needs to be looked at is WHY the hell the DEMOCRATIC Congress has not dropped the ban on building new refinerys. There has not been one built in over 30 years and another one in texas bit the dust recdently. ALSO if Hillary and Obamma and Edwards and all the rest are so concerned about being tied to the Mid East Oil, like they all have said during their interviews and debated, WHY the hell havent any of them proposed a bill to abolish the ban on ANWR drilling and drilling off the coast?

DO you not realise that CHINA will start drilling off our coast for CUBA very soon. The mobile drilling platform has already left China on its journey to Cuba.

It does niot bother me that Bush has not heard of the prospects of oil prices, what bothers me is that Congress, Republican and Democrat (of which your Obama is a part of) is letting this country go to hell in a handbasket.

On a lighter note, when was the last time you or any of your other readers who are actually registered to vote, have wrirren and called your Representatives or Senators and tell them that you are pissed off and if they wish to keep their comfy job they better get their heads out of eachothers assholes and do something before the next election.

All three of mine know me by name and sight I am an informed voter and they know it. I chew one of my Senators out constantly because of his stupidity. Even Georgie has gotten a few nastygrams from me.

Thats the only way they are gonna know they are screwing the pooch. If we tell them.

Love Ya sweetcheeks!!

That isn't just nice, it's wonderful! You'll be saving lots of money, that's for sure.

I just don't know how families will manage to feed their little children and provide their needs with every thing going sky high!

Bush needs to be an average American insteda of a rich man. Then he wouild know baout everyday things like prices and medical insurance and taxes.

I doubt that he even cares.
Mar. 2nd, 2008 12:39 am (UTC)
Amen to that! I am waiting on an average joe to run that has a real chance of winnig before i vote. I don't think he cares either since he never had to.

he's only playing dumb.
I heard him say that the other day.... Why do people defend this moron? I don't doubt for one minute that he knows whats going on with the price speculation. This man has made almost all his money in oil. Why would a 4 dollar a gallon speculation go right over his head? He plays dumb but i bet he is a lot smarter than anyone can imagine. He fools the right amount of people into believing his bullshit to keep himself where he is now. I don't let this stupid ass democratic congress off the hook either. One of the loudest promises they made was that they were going to do something about the gas prices then did absolutely nothing. Like i said in a later post. If gas prices hit 4 dollars a gallon i am parking my car and getting a bus pass. goodbye ford edge.

Re: he's only playing dumb.
I don't think he's pretending to be dumb. I think it's for real, Sweety Pie. Remember, whatever he's wanted for the past 8 years, he's gotten. He and his entire family are incredibly rich, and money talks louder than our Constitution.

I'll have to drive to work; its way across the other side of this city and buses around here suck! I am using my bicycle more than ever, not to keep fit, but out of necessity!
Mar. 2nd, 2008 03:18 am (UTC)
I'm going to call you on this one. How can you be surprised by this? When has Bush thought anything all the way through? When has he had or even cared that he had all the information before making a decision that well in some cases could cost many American lives? The man is a fucking (sorry) idiot! Worse there really are people out there who thinks he is doing a great job.
Mar. 2nd, 2008 03:19 am (UTC)
I need to talk to you. Is there anyway you could download skype so we could actually talk instead of trading messages?
Mar. 2nd, 2008 05:13 am (UTC)
There's a difference between hearing that gas prices might go up to $4 a gallon from speculation, and having analysts give an expert prediction for the next couple of months. I'm sure he was aware that gas prices were expected to go up just like everyone else was, just like it does every summer, but when and how much would be news to him just like it would be news to anyone else. So, his ignorance on the exact *predicted price for this summer* is not really a big deal to me as it is news to everyone! Not just him.

Furthermore, when he said, "...I, frankly, have been focused elsewhere, like on gasoline prices..," he was being asked about fundraising plans for his library. Now, it seems he was making the point that he has other, more important priorities than viewing the fundraising plans for his library, like gas prices, thus he cannot answer the question regarding the fundraising.
