POLITICAL PORN - Superdelegates, Huh?!

Superdelegates could decide on the democratic nominations? But how can this be?

Then we are wasting our time and vote when we go out to cast our vote?!

I had never heard of SUPERDELEGATES until yesterday! Who in the world ARE they, and just how many are there?!

Granted, probably not the best source for accurate information, but here is a link that explains a little about them.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superdelegates

I'll have to add this to my list of things I don't like about the election process....

it's evil
Thanks for the link. Although, I understood a little of it, but not all of it, I came to the conclusion that it's evil!

keep up
I know. I just can't keep up with it! Just when I think I'm starting to understand politics, something like these superdelegates popup!

Yep. It's very much similar to the electoral college and I agree with you, in many respects we are wasting our time when it comes to both of them.

money campaigning
Well I'll be damned! I don't think it's right! Then why do the presidential candidates spend so much money campaigning all over the place, if those superdelegates will end up choosing our next president?!

superdelegates are the party insiders that Hillary Clinton is counting on to hand her the nomination over Obama, who has the the delegates that come courtesy of the people.

It wasn't a problem in Illinois but you better figure out which of your Texan Democratic politicians are committing to Clinton. Grant it. Texas might still have a delgate count more favorable to Clinton, I think there is no denying that Obama has the lead in red states that would rather use a vote for him as a vote against Hillary.

I'm positive Clinton will win Texas because of these so called superdelegates.

I really hate to ask this really stupid question, but I'd like to know the answer: What do you mean by red states?

We’re all different here, with different...
You added me, so I added you back because you seemed like a really nice person, but I absolutely do not like words like F**K, and especially someone calling me, and my LJ friends F**KING IDIOTS!

I'm a firm believer of giving people a 2nd chance and I'm going to give you that 2nd chance to contribute your thoughts and ideas, whether they differ from mine is not the issue, in a courteous manner. I believe in freedom of speech and expression, but not in the manner you expressed yourself. We’re all different here, with different points of view on any given topic, and we express, and often times argue among one another, BUT in a RESPECTFUL manner as to not offend anyone.

If you choose not to, then I'll have no other choice but to delete you from my Flist, and ban you from ever posting in MY journal. So, it’s up to you.

Most states have them, they have been around for a long time, and usually we never hear about them. Except this year when it is very close. Get your crazy Texas buddies out to vote, but not for the b---h.

I'll push, kick and shove
I don't trust them!

You better believe I'll be getting all the Texans out to vote! I've already started.

BUT, BUT, BUT, Hillary Clinton's coming to E.P. tomorrow, and I MUST see her, and take her pic! I know it will be impossible, because there will be 1000's there to try and see her too. I'm so excited.

Should OBAMA ever come to town, I'll push, kick and shove everybody out of my way with a vengeance so I can reach and touch the love of my life!! OBAMA! :o)

Because party nominations are not beholden to the people, but rather the party and the party rules. Parties are not part of the American government. You could form a political party and then decide how to elect your parties nomination any way you want. There's not even a need for elections for that matter. However, politicians need parties to get on ballots and get out the vote, as well as some issues that were the cause of the 12th amendment IIRC. Or rather problems with parties putting forth their candidates instead of individuals running for office legitimizes political parties (which had formed almost instantly after the government itself). That the US has fallen into a biparty system only makes it seems like the people have any right to decide who the party candidates are and confusses the issue.

What a bunch of confusing bull corn! Will we always have this system when it comes to voting for a president, and why haven't Americans tried to change it?

Is it possible that the superdelegates had something to do with Bush winning way back in '04? Most people I've ever talked to say they never voted for him.

You know sunshine I think this is funny because three of the super-delegates for the democratic party are Obama, Hillary and Bill Clinton to tell you the truth it is the back bone of the Party they where created to keep the republicans from jumping party lines in a close primary to help get a nominee that the republicans or the other side think they have a better chance of beating in the general election and it is the same with the republicans.
only they like to use caucuses like here last week the only ones that could even vote in caucuses where the so call super-delegates they do the same down in Idaho, remember one thing this is a party trying to pick witch candidate to back in the general election and the convention is the place that it's real voting takes place and who knows if it is close enough it may be a open convention and someone we do not even know about could win the parties nomination :o)?

I hope I did not get to much Chocolate on you last night ;o) Wink Wink
