Right To Bear Arms MUST Be Preserved

I stole the first Youtube Video from [info]garzan

This is why we MUST preserve our right to bear arms! I carry my pistol wherever I go, except when I enter Mexico, because I don't want to end up like the lady in the 2nd video.

Thoughts please.

I have carried a gun for nearly 2o years and it has saved my life once already. Of course I used to live in a high crime area. I always try and make sure any gal pals of mine are armed and know how to use their gun.

Being a sitting duck for some would be killer, should never be an option.

That's the problem with phone recordings, you absolutely CAN NOT hear gunfire. I heard a couple of slams like he's breaking through the door, and then I heard the guy say something, and then she's all, "OH MY GOD!", which kind of means he's already been shot.

Lots of microphones won't transmit gun fire. Talk to enough people via cell phone who are at a gun range and you can figure this out on your own.

eh, I don't carry a gun, don't own one, don't want one.

I've talked my way out of and walked away from many situations that could have resulted in violence. Although I believe that you have the knowledge and self control to be a weapon's owner, too many people are trigger happy and use it as an equalizer.

its like "i'm mad...and I'm gonna go shoot that motherfucker..." instead of learning to deal with shit like an adult.

violence begets violence.

Sometimes just talking won't work. Those who are trigger happy most likely have a gun that was either stolen or purchased illegally.

There have been too many women who have been out jogging, or just walking their dog, and later their bodies have been found. What a different story it might have been, if they had been carrying a registered gun.

Well, you certainly already know my opinion too. ;) If you get a chance, here is a book you might be interested in.

While I certainly do not advocate everyone having the tools for self defense available to them (they do have the right to choose), I'd much prefer those people not to restrict my legal right to choose to have tools for self defense available to me and my loved ones.

That way, even those that choose to go without tools for self defense are secondarily protected by those of us who do. Bad guys don't know who carries and who doesn't - unless we loose the rights granted by the second amendment to the US Constitution.

I looked it up.

Of course violent crime is up in Washington DC. Those damn killers know for a fact that their potential victims will not have a gun to protect themselves!

Thanks for that first video, Sweety Pie!

By the way, the latest FBI crime statistics (go look them up, I'm not going to provide a link since they are more believable if you find them yourself) indicate that violent crime in the US is down in most areas. I wonder if it has anything to do with so many states changing to "shall issue" states? One notable exception, violent crime in Washington DC is up. How can that be since the district has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the US? In DC it is illegal to transport a legally obtained, functioning firearm from one room in your own home to another. So how can they have such high gun crimes? Hmmm?

I'm totally with you on this one. In the first video the lady was saved because she had a firearm, something tells me she would've been dead because it seemed like this guy was getting progressively worse with his attacks/stalks.

The second video is just plain sad.

I've actually been thinking about getting myself a gun permit as well, for protection and all. Especially since this neighborhood seems to be getting worse and worse... which is why I plan on moving out of here in the next year or so! lol
Jan. 14th, 2008 03:19 pm (UTC)
I really hope you move out of that neighborhood as soon as possible!

Can you imagine what the outcome would have been, had the woman's friend not given her a firearm on that same day?!

The vicious massacre that poor old woman experienced, are things that happen more than we care to imagine.

Yet you're still going to vote for someone who either wants to nationally ban conceal and carry, at at best JUST wants to ban a lot of firearms.

The NRA is NOT all powerful.
Jan. 14th, 2008 03:10 pm (UTC)
Being as this administration has already taken away many of our rights, plus messed around with the Constitution, I just can see myself voting for a Republican.

No, the NRA isn't all that powerful, but if they recruit more members, they can be.

I still say that training in firearms should be required then every citizen over the age of twenty five should go armed. The shit would stop shortly there after.
Jan. 14th, 2008 07:09 pm (UTC)
The problem with most people is that they think that could never happen to them, but it sure can, and if it should happen, they must be prepared to defend themselves, and the only way is with a firearm.

if you really feel that way,. you're supporting the wrong candidate!

You asked for thoughts and I will give them, as I did before:

In Germany (and Belgium) it is rather hard to own a gun. Incidentally this also has the effect that the bad guys are far less likely to own guns (and I assume, feel the need far less since there is no arms race). Which means that the US situation, that someone w/o a firearm is at a disadvantage, does not come up.

Also, the kind of violent crimes that seem to be rather normal fare in larger US towns and cities hardly happen in Europe. Don't ask me why, but I do tend to Moore's belief that the semi-warzone that the US is (combined with larger social inequality than in the EU) tends to breed violence.

So while I somewhat understand that taking guns away from people in the failed state that the US is will put them at a disadvantage, free ownership of guns is not a long-term solution.
