1. I’m having some problems with my FTP, but will soon fix it, I HOPE! Just as soon as I do, I will be adding some usericons at my brand new [info]pillowtalkicons LJ. I’m a little nervous as to how I’ll be placing the icons, so those who joined way back THEN, please bear with me. Once I get the hang of it, plus fix my FTP, I’ll be popping icons left and right!

If some of you missed my last post about pillowtalkicons, and would like to join it, please let me know so I can add you to my FList. [info]pillowtalkicons will be FRIENDS ONLY. Again, if you should like these icons, you DO NOT have to give me credit, but if you want to, then that will make me smile. :o) You will not hurt my feelings if you don’t like them. :o( You will make me happy if you decide to just take a peek out of curiosity. :o)
There will be GIRLY icons, and there will be MANLY icons for all my HE-MEN. :o)

2. It seems like everyday I wake up in the morning, I regress little by little back to childhood, thanks to our government!

Don’t these people have anything better to do with their lives, than to try to think of more and more ways of taking away our rights and treating us like children?

Thoughts P-L-E-A-S-E!

I'm an ex-Californian and was used to alot of these stupid nanny laws. I'm still trying to decipher the proposal. If it's in South LA at least I can see where she's coming from, not that I agree with the tactics. I'm very much against legislation that ultimatly has to do with changing our behavior.

But I understand why. South LA especially south central LA, is pretty much the LA ghetto, where you won't find any grocery stores, in some cases bus stops, etc. So you have all the chains setup shop there to provide cheap food and almost every other corner has liquor stores.

I say don't make laws, but st same time zone all neighborhoods equally. If it were any other neighborhood the city planners wouldn't dare inundate them with nothing but fast food chains.

You know I think it has to do with the fact they want more up scale food restaurants so this is a way of trying to insure it. If it ever becomes law but I do not see it really becoming a law my self but stranger things have happened

Yes, it is South LA. No wonder these poor people have to eat at these fast food places.

Instead of wasting time trying to ban those places, they should try working out a way of building nearby grocery stores so they can buy healthy food.

The smiling face of facism is in the guise of 'protecting' us from X. Cause X is bad for you/dangerous.
Dec. 15th, 2007 07:26 pm (UTC)
Too much protection makes too many delicate tissue paper out of all of us! :o)
Dec. 18th, 2007 10:53 pm (UTC)
I agree.

"The people don't want them, but when they don't have any other options, they may gravitate..."
Yep. This sounds like politician-think, all the way. "People don't want them..." hyuk hyuk! Pull the other one! If people didn't want them, they'd steer clear. Period! And there's certainly no shortage of fast-food places, so if they didn't care for the old places, they CERTAINLY wouldn't support NEW ones.

"when they don't have any other options" is activist-think, intended to explain the popularity of something that they wish people didn't like so much. I'm sure Ms. Perry is surrounded with people who like having her make their choices for them, but I hope that any OTHER politicians who vote along with her, get voted out of office at the earliest convenience.

Politicians have an amazing capacity for making my flesh crawl.

Looking forward to the icons!

Have you ever read 1984?

It'll send chills...
Dec. 15th, 2007 07:27 pm (UTC)
No I haven't, but I'd like to. Who is the author?
Dec. 15th, 2007 10:45 pm (UTC)
George Orwell...

It's a classic, and I believe it's the book that coined the term "Big Brother"

Dec. 14th, 2007 02:14 am (UTC)
Well I always wanted to go to jail for a quarter pounder ;o)

Dec. 15th, 2007 07:29 pm (UTC)

once more California raises its stupid head. It is a joke out there, and ARNOLD is not helping any...

Its bad enougn that their 4 seasons are Fire Flood Earthquake and mudslide but these people do nothing to try and prevent the additional disasters. Now they wanna try to do away with the "ugly people" who might be overweight because of the fast foods, and just have the health freaks there when it finally breaks off and slides into the pacific.

I do have to differ with Moon shine though, there is no way ID risk jail for a Quatrter pounder... It would have to be with cheese at least...
Dec. 14th, 2007 09:36 pm (UTC)
Well your right! And you know how much I hate to say that :) but It always has to be with cheese and I would have to have extra fry sauce for my fries too :o) hahaaa...
And come to think of it I would want a big chockalott shake too I wonder how much time I would get just for the shake? :)
Dec. 15th, 2007 08:05 pm (UTC)
I agree with you about moonshine! If I'm going to jail for eating at a fast food place, I'm gonna gobble up TWO Happy Meals plus a Fruit 'n Yogurt Parfait! :o)
Dec. 14th, 2007 03:08 pm (UTC)
Well, I can see doing part of what they suggest. Particularly, not allowing more fast food places if the area has more than it's fair share.

But, whatever, I am kind of apathetic today.
Dec. 15th, 2007 07:57 pm (UTC)
True, but read donchep's comment here about the grocery stores in that area of the city.
Dec. 18th, 2007 05:51 pm (UTC)
When the people hand over their rights to the government then the government has a duty to govern according to the wishes of the people as well as according to the law. In the case of real estate, ALL real estate is held in trust by the government. And, in such ordinances like this fast food one, it is indeed a representation of the people; more specifically, certain people. So really, the problem you have is with democracy -- where majority rules; i.e. you're bothered by the idea of other people telling you what you can and cannot do.

If this ordinance is a violation of people's rights, which right is being violated?
