ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ TOUR
PART FOUR
1. First of all, what a SCARE I had yesterday at 6:00 AM! I started doing some computer work BEFORE I had my mug of strong coffe, and caused a major crash, accidently obliterating all of my domains to kingdom come, but after hours of tantrums, and having a major nervous break-down, I was able to glue everything back together again! YAY!
2. I'm still making a list of those I'll be deleting from my Flist. I'm at the F's and have 40 so far that will be deleted. I never realized it would be so very difficult for me to do this, because it's like chopping of my own arm, but it MUST be done! When I complete my list, I will be making a post about my thoughts on the topic of LIVE JOURNAL FRIENDS, because I have an awful lot to express. I've especially appreciated the comments you kids have left in my prior 5 posts!
3. Also, I hope to soon post the pics I took of the breathtakingly beautiful city of San Francisco! I've also been giving great thought about sharing with you something that has to do with the PLAYBOY MANSION! Yes, Playgirl is a gal of many talents! ;o)
4. And now back to the mysterious world of ALCATRAZ!
This is the dummy head made by Allen Clayton West, used in the 1962 escape from Alcatraz. It was made of cotton, soap, paint and human hair. West wasn't able to escape because he didn't make it in time to meet with Anglin Brothers and Frank Morris, who did manage to escape. Their bodies were never found, and it has been assumed that they drowned in the icy cold water because their bodies were never found.

John West, Frank Morris, Clarence Anglin, John Anglin
They're all so handsome! What a waste of a life!

The size of the cells were so tiny! 5x9 feet (1.5x2.5 m)

This handsome guy was our tour guide!

This is the escape route used by the inmate.

QUESTIONS:
1. Do you think they made it?
2. Do you think we need more prisons like Alcatraz for America's most dangerous and evil convicts? For the ones who will never be rehabilitated?
- I feel they did, and I personally hope and pray they did!
- Absolutely NOT! I feel it was INHUMANE to have those men living under such horrible conditions!!

As far as prisons, that is a tricky question. I believe that prisons should be broken down into "Prisons just for murderers and rapists" and "Prisons for other felons". I have no remorse for rapists and child molesters, so I would pen them up with the murderers in the most crowded, inhumane prisons of the country. The crimes they committed were inhumane so they should suffer the same indignity.
As far as other felons in prison, they should be incarcerated without many liberties, but should be given more human conditions.
I have no remorse for rapists either, especially crimes against children, but for others I feel sorry.
And as far as prisons go some are just as bad today there are some federal prisons where they never let the prisoner ever touch another person ever makes me sick.
Now the PLAYBOY MANSION!? Hum =o)
Yes, Playboy Mansion. ;o)
>it has been assumed that they drowned in the icy cold water because their bodies were never found.
Hm. The only time you EVER hear about the icy waters of San Francisco Bay is from prison spokespersons. I think they were just trying to strike a cautionary "don't dare try to escape" message.
>Do you think we need more prisons like Alcatraz for America's most dangerous and evil convicts?
I dunno about "more" prisons...perhaps better-separated populations. And since people are always trying to come up with better ways to do that, I presume it's a tougher problem than it sounds.
I feel those prison spokes people were only trying to cover their ass by saying the waters were icy cold! I’m surprised they didn’t use sharks as an excuse, also! Or maybe they did. :o)
There are truly hardcore evil prisoners, and there are many who are kind souls who made a mistake somewhere down the line. I believe they should be totally separated!
I hope someday you will get on that ferry and go to see Alcatraz for yourself. Believe me, it's a very exciting tour and you won't regret it one bit!
I'll soon show a few pics of the inside of the Playboy Mansion. :o)
I would have given my vast fortune to see you in a bikini in the grotto...
Isn't is strange how our computer has become our best friend, our 2nd life, our world, an actual extention of our body, our biggest love or our life, our everything?! It's become an actual HUMAN that I pray for when I go to sleep!!
Aye Sweety Pie, have we gone totally quacky over our Baby (computer)?
I tend to believe they made it, because they all have the face of an angel, and they were so handsome! :o)
Hugs Sweety Pie!
Cutting 'friends' is really tough... I do think you are right though, it need to be done. Especially if there are people that don't post, comment and/or even acknowledge when you say happy birthday to them!
I love the picture posts you do and your user icons too! *swoon*
Thank you for the compliment! You've got me grinning like crazy!
As for prisons... unfortunately, it seems like everyone thinks that if someone commits a crime they should rot in prison... but people never, unless you were personally involved, know the whole story or the circumstances. I am not excusing everyone or condoning anyone at all, but every person in this world should not be condemned forever because of very bad and wrong decisions/actions that they have made in their lives. Instead we need to find out why they did it and get them help to reform them. Putting someone in inhospitable conditions similar to that will only make them more angry and more intolerant. They do their time, get out and commit another crime. We need to give them an environment where they can be reformed and learn to become decent citizens and human beings again. Unfortunately some can not be reformed, but they are still humans, and even if some did some inhumane things they still do not deserve to be treated like an animal in a cage... and I don't think animals should be caged either, so of course people shouldn't as well!! Just my two cents, and you know Playgirl, that I have some personal experience/insite...
Glad you were able to fix your stuff! What a pain though!!
It's true, we're not condoning those who commit horrific crimes. But there are some who were never really bad, they just made a mistake somewhere along the line and have had to pay for it. I believe in rehibilitating those who fall under this catagory.
Thank you so much for the kind of input I love to read!
Hugs!
I often think about the photos I would have had, had I done something different, gone to a different city or even walked a different direction at an event I attended... I love my photos, it feels odd to think that little changes could have prevented them from ever existing...
Anyway, I need to do SF too... I can't wait to fall in love with those future photos ;)
I have always liked taking pictures, but as of late, I've become a fanatic about it, and love it more than anything in the world. I just recently bought myself a Canon, and am trying to take some good pics, but I'll never come close to the ones you and a few of my LJ friends take!
I suddenly realize exactly what you mean. Had I not decided to take that particular deserted side road on my way to Chimayo, I never would have found that old grave site with those to very awesome graves. I now regret not having taken some of the other roads. Who knows what treasures I would have found? Same thing goes for the Balloon Festival in Albuquerque. God only knows what wonderful pictures I would have taken, but was unable to because it was impossible to be at two places at the same time. But thank goodness for next year, and I'll be sure taking that trip to the Balloon Festival!
Oh, and thanks for adding me again!! :o)
:D
I've loved this tour :D
I'm so glad you enjoyed my Alcatraz tour!
I just saw it on the shelf at the video store and rented it tonight. it was REALLY interesting. it has interviews with a lot of military and intelligence people about how the war has evolved.
