1st of all, I will reply as soon as possible to everyone who was so nice to leave a comment in my prior 3 Halloween posts.

October 29, 2007, 4:34 PM - As of today, I will make this exact TIME TO SAY GOODBYE post everyday I make a new post to my Livejournal, until November 5, 2007.

The only time I've ever deleted anyone from my LJ, is when I've been asked to delete them.

This is going to CHANGE.

I have approximately 536 MUTUAL Livejournal Friends on my FList, and will ABSOLUTELY start payging CLOSE attention as to:

1. Who NEVER, EVER, EVER and EVER leaves a comment in my Livejournal.
2. Who NEVER replies to me when I leave a comment on their Livejournal. How rude!
3. Who NEVER even bothers to thanks me after I take the time to leave my Happy Birthday wishes in their LJ. How Rude!
4. Who I like very much, but I get these SPOOKY vibes that that person doesn't like me.
5. All in all, I can now see for sure, that at least 400 people will be deleted into Cyber Kingdom Come by November 5, 2007.
6. I will start hunting for about 25 BRAND NEW LJ Friends after November the 5th.
7. By and by, all of you already know that I am a gal who expresses EXACTLY what I feel about any given topic; if you DON'T like me for it, and want to beat me to the punch, then DELETE me right now! And PLEASE don’t bother telling me you have, because I’ll KNOW!

What would Halloween be without ALCATRAZ?! If you have not yet visited Alcatraz, which is situated in the Francisco Bay, I HIGHLY recommmend you go there on your next vacation!

I will make about 3 different posts on Alcatraz, because I have so many pictures to share with you. I will start with the exterior of the prison, then I'll show you pics of the interior, and actual pictures I took of Allen Clayton West's fake head he used to escape Alcatraz! I hope to have all these post completed by today, since today is SPOOKY HAPPY HALLOWEEN! BOOOO!

This island, which means Pelican in Spanish, was discovered in 1775 by a Spanish explorer by the name of Juan Manuel de Ayala, who named it at that time, La Isla de los Alcatraces, which means The Island of the Pelicans

The only way of getting to Alcatraz is fromFisherman’s Wharf by ferry boat, and I became more and more excited as got closer and closer to the Alcatraz Prison, which inmates called the dreaded "Hellcatraz!"

This is the lighthouse found on Alcatraz Island, which is the oldest lighthouse that was built in 1853 on the west coast. It has a fog bell which was added, and rung by hand in 1856.

Here you can see the huge trash incinerator smoke stack at the back of one of the buidings.

These are the remains of the house at Alcatraz that once housed Warden Johnston.

This was the guard lookout tower of the Alcatraz prison.

If you would like to know more of the history of Alcatraz, before it became Alcatraz San Francisco Prison, which was used as a federal maximum-security prison from 1934 until 1963, and housed America's most notorious criminals of that time, you will find it here at

As a Big time Lighthouse affectionado, I thank you so ver much of the Alcatraz Light. I have a small figurine of it. I remember that island so well. We passed it everytime the Enterprise came home from the sea.

It was so alone sitting there in the middle of the bay, I can only immagine what it was like long ago when it housed some of the country's worse criminals.

Once again Thanks for the Pictures.

Al Capone’s presence
You're welcome Daddy!

There's such eeriness through out the place! I couldn't get over the sound of echos everywhere, and honestly believe I felt Al Capone’s presence!

Sadly, I have never been out to the Left Coast so I really appreciate you posting and sharing this.

inmates insane
You're welcome!

It's a place you must definitely visit someday.

I just can't imagine how the inmates didn't go insane, living in such a horrible place like that. I kind of feel sorry for them!

I'll soon be posting pics of the interior, which are awesome!

You came down to SF and didn't let mne know!? Could have gotten coffee or something. Good pics!

I'm one of those SF people that never goes to the many attractions here in the bay till someone visits and wants to go. It sucks to take things for granted like that.

beautiful and exciting
When I travel somewhere, it's at the spur of the moment, and that's what happened this year when I went to San Francisco. Should I ever head that way, I'll let you know for that cup of coffee. I've had these pictures for many months, and just now found the perfect excuse to share them with you!

You live in such a beautiful and exciting place Tuck! So much to see and do.

signoring my journal
I'm glad you're signoring my journal! I have no idea what the word signoring means, but if you said it, it MUST be good! :o)

After the 5th, I'll be making a post, explaining why I hadn't visited my LJ friends for a few months, and left comments. Things changed, and as you can see, I'm visiting you all, every chance I get, and enjoying the hell out of it! :o)

It must have been weird there, knowing that so many people that were there committed some extremely heinous crimes - and some aweful things happened there as well.

As a side note, didn't Metallica shoot the video to 'St. Anger' there?
Nov. 1st, 2007 05:25 am (UTC)
Yes, it was very weird! Wait 'til you see the inside pics I'll soon post. It's so hard to believe that a human-being could live in a place like that. I'm sure the inmates often welcomed death.

I don't know if Metallica shot the video there, but perhaps someone who knows, and reads this, will let us know.

Great pics as usual!!!! I made it to Fisherman's Wharf this year when visiting my cousin, but sadly did not get to tour Alcatraz... Nuts I say..:)
I most definitely plan to go next time though.

mask used in the escape

Too bad you didn't have a chance to take the Alcatraz tour, but I know you will someday. No words can fully express the feelings the place instills in you, but when you do go, you'll know exactly what I felt.

What I found most facinating was the pic of the mask used in the escape. I'll post those pics tomorrow.

A question from an Australian
This is probably something every American knows, but what happened to the warden's house? To me it looks like it was razed by fire. Am I right in this guess?

They say the spirits of those executed wander the prisons where they spent their last moments, and Alcatraz at least gives them a haunt with a view.

You should take a vacation to Australia sometime and visit some of the more macabre sites we have here, such as the old prison at Port Arthur in Tasmania and also St Helena Island here in Queensland. At the very least you will find the history of Port Arthur to be as brutal as you would expect a colonial prison would be.

How is the countdown going, Savannah? How many Playgirl friends list inmates are still scheduled to walk the Green Mile on November 5? Are you aware that is the anniversary of the execution of Guy Fawkes in England for the treasonous crime of trying to blow up the houses of Parliament? Seems like it's going to be a most propitious date. Hugs.

Re: A question from an Australian
I sure wish I could answer your question about the warden's house! I didn't even think to ask, and neither did anyone else! I've looked everywhere to see if I could find the answer, but to no avail.

I know spirits exist, because I have some shadow people living in my house. I'm serious! I'm sure those who were incarcerated in Alcatraz, suffered terribly. While touring Alcatraz, I could sense beings roaming the place.

There's nothing more I'd like to do but to share with all of you my encounters with my shadow people, but my writing skills are terrible!

I believe in reincarnation, and honest to God believe that in one of my lives, lived during the 20's, and in my other life, I lived in Australia! Whenever I see Australian photos, I know for a fact I was there somewhere! Hopefully, before I die, I do visit Austraila, and visti Tasmania and all the other places you mentioned. I think I will die from excitement just from the mere thought of actually visiting Tasmania!

The 5th? OMG! I've been checking out those who will be deleted, and it's like chopping an arm off! I know many of those could care less for me, but I will be very sad to delete them!

I had never heard of Guy Fawkes! So, that rascal tried to blow up the Parliament houses?! What a terrible man he must have been!

Although I rarely make comments on your journal, I do enjoy reading it. I made the mistake of constantly commenting on all my friends LJ's at one time and got blasted by a friend for leaving meaningless comments... So I try to only comment when I have something worthwhile to say... lol

You getting blasted by that friend wasn't nice at all!

I please so easily! A mere HUG, adds days of smiles to my face! :o)
