1. The kitten was doing so well with the eye medication the vet prescribed for her, but her little eye started swelling again about a week ago.

This pic was taken when Grandpa and I started
giving her the medication a while back.

After the medication, she looked so well, but now
her eye looks like the picture above again!</center>

By and by, I want to thank all of you who suggested a name for her in one of my prior posts. You all came up with really wonderful names, but the one I liked most was HELEN KELLER. I felt the name was most appropriate since she’s blind. Thank you

I took her to the vet again yesterday and he prescribed eye drops that are suppose to be applied 4 times a day for 8 days so the eye hopefully dries up completely. I’m to take her back to him in 8 days and if the drops don’t work, her little eye will double in size in time and explode. I’ll keep my fingers crossed in hopes the drops work by that time, if not, then I’ll take her for the operation, and will do whatever it takes to save her life. It’s amazing how much I’ve grown to love her since she was born 4 months ago. She’s still tiny and hasn’t grown at all. Helen loves to eat, and I’m amazed at how she follows me everywhere I go throughout the house. Does she smell me or what? :o)

2. I have more bad news. I was unable to trap the remaining female cat to have spayed, and now she’s pregnant again. TRUST ME! It’s IMPOSSIBLE trying to catch one cat among 20 something cats that have already been spayed and neutered!! If this cat has more kittens, I’ll have close to 30 cats! I have so many, I’ve totally lost count! I told my vet about it, and he told me to try and catch her again, and if I do, to call him any day of the week, any time of the day, and take her to him so he can spay her.

I buy a 40 # bag of Meow Cat food per week. They’re fed in the morning and in the evening, because I want their bellies full so they’ll leave the birds alone. Friends and family think I’m nuts, but they just don’t understand that I’ve grown to love each and every one of them, and there’s no way in hell I can just pretend they don’t exist by letting them starve to death.

I’m trapped and it doesn't feel too good. Perhaps I am crazy for loving animals so much!

First of all, I'm so happy to see you back!!

Sometimes it's very painful loving critters as I do.

Poor Helen Keller... I hope her eye feels better!

*hugs tight*

I hope so, too!

Thank you for the tight hugs! I never tire of them!

With the animals only. I'm working on becoming an angel with humans, also, but it's a little tough! :o)

Congratulation, you are officially a crazy cat woman.

I hope Hellen gets better.

And, for the one you can't catch, have you tried making a pen to trap either all the cats, or just all the other cats. Then maybe you can get her.

What ever happened to trying to trap her using a your trap and string to trigger it?

I am! I feel I should be the the next Cat Woman on Batman! Lord knows, I've really earned the title! :o)

The trap and string didn't work, because she won't even go near the trapper at all!! All the other cats take their turn entering it and doing a little Tango, but not that darn white female cat!

I'm trying again this Saturday!

You're not crazy but someone with a large wonderful soul who cares for the cats most would ignore and leave abandoned.
I'm glad to know you :)

Thank you bakapooh, and I'm glad I know you!

That first picture with her all curled in a ball is so darn cute!! (all pictures of her are though!) So sweet!

You are not crazy at all. We buy those big 40 lb bags of cat food and go through about one and a half bags per week.

BTW- I have changed my LJ and gotten a new account and will no longer be using this one soon. I hope it is ok I add you on my new one!! My new one is carrieslife, so you should get a friend notice from me soon.

It makes me so happy to know there are people like you who truly care for the animals in our world, too!

Thank you for letting me know of the new account. I've already added you! :o)

Maybe not crazy, but certainly odd...:)
I could never have that many pets of any kind, if I started to get close, some would be visiting the animal shelter..I like animals too, but it only goes so far in my case...hehe.

All my friends and family tell me the same thing, but it's IMPOSSIBLE for me to take them to animal control. Just one look into their little faces, and they wrap me around their little paws!

Yes, I am odd! ;o)

I'm not a cat lover only. One of these days I'll post pics of my 8 stray dogs, and 2 indoor little dogs!

Helen Keller is a wonderful name. Possibly some
accomplishments will go with the name, huh??........

Sep. 6th, 2007 11:34 pm (UTC)
It is a wonderful name, isn't it?!

She's amazing for a blind little cat!
Sep. 6th, 2007 12:38 am (UTC)
So should we start calling you Annie Sullivan?
Sep. 7th, 2007 12:10 am (UTC)
I think so, too! I've already started teaching little Helen sign paw language! hhaaaa

All the best and I hope your cat gets better real soon!

Even though I only have just one pet - a little female beagle named Allie - I can understand how you feel. Just today I was sitting with her and thinking about how much love pets really bring into our lives. I never had a pet before last year, but now I cannot imagine life without one of God's little creatures around. They are truly amazing.
Sep. 7th, 2007 12:35 am (UTC)
Thank you, and I hope so, too!

I'm so happy that you finally have a little pet! Yes, they are amazing. I'm sure you've already noticed that Allie behaves like a little child, because she really believes she's one.

I not only have all my cats, but also have a total of 10 dogs. All of them are strays, except little Jewely that I have living inside my house, as well as little Panchito who I found roaming the streets.

I've lost 2 little toy poodles, Penny and Mickey, and when they died, I almost died. I lost Mickey last year. It is the most painful thing to lose a loved pet. I'll never forget them!

Right now, Jewely is the love of my life, and Panchito will be soon, also.

Give Allie a big hug for me, Sweety Pie!
Sep. 6th, 2007 04:37 am (UTC)
i hope she makes it.
have you ever considered giving away some of your animals to other loving families?
Sep. 6th, 2007 11:37 pm (UTC)
I hope so, too!

I have considered it, but I just don't have the heart when I see them so happy. I did give one of the kittens to my cousin in San Antonio, and I know she's giving it the best of care.
Sep. 6th, 2007 05:09 am (UTC)
Helen Keller....

named it after a girl thats deaf, blind, and mute...

Sep. 7th, 2007 12:07 am (UTC)
Yes! And if I have my way, I'll have my little Helen writing a book someday! :o)
Sep. 6th, 2007 05:22 am (UTC)
You're such a wonderful human being. If people treated each other the way you treated your animals, this world would be such a peaceful, loving place
Sep. 6th, 2007 11:40 pm (UTC)
Yes Sweety Pie, what a wonderful world it would be! We have much to learn from the animal world, if only we'd take the time.
Sep. 6th, 2007 09:35 am (UTC)
Ooo! That's a good name!

Anyhow... I wish you the best of luck with all that. I really mean it. 'Cus that'll be pretty wild if she has kittens. I mean... there will be a freakin' zero on the end of that three! A zero! Sheesh! God have mercy on you!

Sep. 7th, 2007 12:04 am (UTC)
I know you do!

If I don't catch her soon, she'll have 5 more kittens, and you know I'll be keeping them, too.

Yes, God have mercy on me!!

BloodHounds are not the only animal with excellent sense of smells. Most all mammels have a heightened sence of smell, but where one of the senses is taken away the others are heightened.

Years ago when the Cattle Drives were common place, A major problem was when cows gave borth on the trail but were too weak to continue and died. The calk would loose the scent of its mother and wander off, The drovers found out that if they Covered the calf's eyes and blew into its nose 3 or 4 times the calf would pick up the scent of the driver and think it was its mother, and follow him.

I did the same thing when I got a new puppy for years.

Apparently Hellen has your scent and knows you are her Mommy...

So ends the trivia lesson for today :-)
Sep. 7th, 2007 12:00 am (UTC)
I always learn so much from you! I guess since Helen is blind, she smelled me while placing the medication on her eyes, either that, or I smell like a piece of fried chicken to her! :o)
