PARIS HILTON - DWI

PARIS HILTON

Here's the low-down on Paris Hilton:

Paris Hilton was placed under arrest in February for driving under the influence of alcohol, and reckless driving.

The judge suspended her license, gave her three years probation, and was ordered to enroll in an alcohol education program, which she failed to do.

She was later arrested for violating her parole by driving with a suspended license.

The judge ordered her to spend 45 days in jail.

Her mother mocked the judge and asked him sarcastically if she could have his autograph, then said the proceedings were "a joke" and "this is a pathetic reality show."

QUESTIONS:

Was Paris Hilton the victim here?

Paris Hilton said something to the effect that police officers have always stopped her try and get into her panties. Do you find Miss Hilton breath taking beautiful to believe this is true?

When asked if she could pay for a nicer cell, should the judge have agreed?

What should the judge have done when Hilton's mother verbally abused him?

Please, if YOU had been the judge, what would YOU have done to both mom and daughter?

My only comment is that anyone who had a prior and then gets arrested again for drunk driving deserves 45 days in jail. I don't know enough about the case or local laws to comment further.

She deserves what she got, but I'm sure her money will buy her out the the sentence.

let's see I would give Paris an additional 30 days in the grey bar hotel and her mom about 6 months for contempt of court as well as a $55,000 fine for her mom and for Paris after she gets out of jail I would have her on community service for at least 90 more days just for letting her mom act so stupid but that is only my opinion and my 2 cents

It's such a non-news story. Tired of hearing about it. :)

her mom actually said she couldn't believe Paris was going to jail after all the money they spent. That raised my contempt level for her whole family. I always wondered if she was just a bad apple but it seems her mom is a spoiled, out of touch brat like Paris. Bad genetics. :)

I bet you didn't know this!
I bet you didn't know this! Looks like sentence is going to be reduced due to an over crowded jail.

Looks like money RULES, even in the court system, huh?!

Was Paris Hilton the victim here? No. And, I think she should do her time in GenPop, like the rest of the world.

Paris Hilton said something to the effect that police officers have always stopped her try and get into her panties. Do you find Miss Hilton breath taking beautiful to believe this is true? No, I don't

When asked if she could pay for a nicer cell, should the judge have agreed? No

What should the judge have done when Hilton's mother verbally abused him? I think he should have tossed her into jail for contempt of court

Please, if YOU had been the judge, what would YOU have done to both mom and daughter? I would have tossed them both in jail. Paris for as long as I could, her mother for as long as it took for her to apologize to the court.

Too bad you weren't the judge!
Too bad you weren't the judge!

I'm surprised the judge just sat and took all that verbal abuse from the mommy, without making her pay the consequences!

I would have slapped a Contempt charge on the mother, first and foremost.

I think the judge was in a no-win situation here. If he lets Paris off, it just feeds the notion that stars get preferential treatment. By sentencing her to jail, he comes across as 'making an example' of her.

I honestly have no problem with his sentence, seeing as how I just read about someone today who was sentenced to 15 years in jail for their 14th DUI.

Paris Hilton is a nasty, over-privileged skank, without an ounce of common sense.

As for her jail time, it's not like she didn't earn it. She was driving under a suspended license.

Wealth doth and should have it's priviledges. Flying first class, fine wine, higher (not nessisarily better) education, etc. That being the case, I STILL think Paris should do her 45 days, just like anyone else. Mom Should get fined the apropriate ammount for contempt. Not more because she is rich and not less.

Personally I think fines should be based on the persons income, to keep the punishment fair for all tax brackets.

I think...

Paris broke the law. I think 45 days might be extreme, but... She showed up late to court. Her and he family mocked the judges and the police and the legal system. And are now assuming that because they paid something like $100,000 to the Governor's election campaign that they are above the law.

I think humility and respect would have garnered a lighter sentence. And I think now, rather than getting out early due to prison over crowding she has assured herself a full 45 day stay.

How I see it, she got a slap on the wrists for drunk driving. She didn't respect that and no she's getting a harsher sentence.

Now we just need Nicole to get busted, then they can start filming Simple Life Sentence.

15 minutes late
The reason she got a stiffer sentence is because she arrived in court 15 minutes late. There's no excuse in the world for this.

I would have ordered Paris to serve the 45 days like every other person in the entire USA would have to do. I think the allowing her not to use the buy down was only because of who she is. While I wouldn't have the money to have that option I also wouldn't have been drinking and driveing. I also think she should be allowed the same options as everyone else in the legal system. As far as the mother mocking the judge and acting as if she were above the law because she has money, if I were the judge I would have held her disrespectful butt in contempt of court and hauled her off to spend 24 hours in a regular county jail house with normal PI offenderes all night! I think for her to mock the judge was rude and disrespectful. For Paris not to follow suit was smart. For her to accuse every cop of wanting to get in her panties was her attempting to cry sexual harassment for leniancy when none was deserved. I still believe there are decent people in the world and some of go to work, do our time and what our job requires us to do, and go home. I am sure while there are some cops who aren't above trying to sleep with her I am positive that some of the officers who pulled her over saw who she was and thought "Dear god, just let me get home to my wife and kids tonight without a scandle!".

Very well put, Alexis!

The accusations she made about the cops stopping her only to seduce her, is what I find most offensive. This woman makes me sick to my stomach.

Stuck 'em both in a maximum security penitentiary for a while... Show them how the other half lives... Might teach them some humility...

Honestly, even if the prison is over-crowded they should let some other prisoner go home for good behavior and insist on making her do the entire 45 days.

45 days is nothing and it doesn't warrant a pardon. I don't hate her. I just can't stand all the media focus she gets for no reason I can even imagine.

I wonder why the judge didn't cite the mother for contempt of court. Was he afraid of her? I know he would have, had I been the one to attack him verbally in the way she did, he'd have me pay the consequences for sure!

That's Not Hot
Had I been the judge, I would've sentenced Paris Hilton lengthy term as I would have any other citizen who violated their parole. She broke the law driving under the influence and she could've killed someone. She got off lucky and yet she violated her probation. What her ass can't afford a driver to drive her around? She should go to jail like anyone else and should be treated like another citizen.

And had I been the judge, her mom probably would've been facing contempt charges.

But that's why I'm not the judge.

In this country, celebrities and for the most part rich people are above the law. Shell out enough money and you can get away with anything with virtually a slap on the wrist.

How many times has Robert Downey Jr. been busted for drug possession and has gotten off with a slap on the wrist? Do you think some poor working class bus driver in Detroit would be treated in the same manner.

Judge Greg Mathis said this once on his show and I completely agree with him. When kids or for that matter adults from the suburbs or rich areas commit crimes and get sentenced, they get house arrest, counseling, they get to share their feelings with a counselor.

Poor people on the other hand? They get jail. They don't get the same resources as those with money. Just jail time.

But that's my two cents on the matter.

Re: That's Not Hot
I'm positive she'll end up doing no time!

But, I'm also positive that she'll eventually find that she's the most hated bitch in the U.S., and will never again prance around like royalty again.

I don't believe in the scales of justice, but I do believe in the people!

Was Paris Hilton the victim here?
Absolutely NOT! When is she going to stop thinking she's above the law, when she does kill someone? I have *NO* patience for people who DUI, and even less for those in a position that others want to emulate them.

Do you find Miss Hilton breath taking beautiful to believe this is true?
PAH! NO! She's a walking skeleton. She might be somewhat attractive if her bones weren't jutting out of her flesh.

When asked if she could pay for a nicer cell, should the judge have agreed?
WTF nicer cell?!? Does her family think there's some cush Hilton-esque jail cell hidden somewhere in the county jail?
Jail is 3 hots and a cot period. If she wanted to be pampered in a spa like setting she shouldn't have broken the law.

What should the judge have done when Hilton's mother verbally abused him?
Contempt of court charges, fines, and a cot next to her daughters come to mind....

Please, if YOU had been the judge, what would YOU have done to both mom and daughter?
Mom, as stated to the above question. There's really not much more she could have been charged with. Princess, I can't disagree with the original judgement much, but I would have also made sure she was assigned to community service working with people disabled by drunk drivers.

The whole ZOMGPARIS phenomenon makes me sick anyway. Who the hell is she? SOme rich kid. She could be using her position in life to really get things done for charity and work for good, but she chooses to be famous for being a ditzy drunk of a slut. She needs to FOAD already in my opinion.

I read somewhere that Paris refused
I read somewhere that Paris refused to pay the entrance fee of $2,500 for a benefit gala that was for AIDS research. When she arrived and was asked to donate, she said told them, “Don’t you know who I am?” and walked right in without giving a penny.

At a later interview by the press, she made them think she had donated.
