God Bless America, Our Troops and President Bush!
The resignation of Charlton Heston, the president of the NRA has brought to mind the topic of the 2nd amendment which states that "the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." I'm sorry to see Heston go, due to his medical diagnosis of Alzheimer's. He campaigned for, (then Governor Bush) and for Republicans against, (then President Clinton) and his administration who tried to take away our RIGHT to bare arms.
I'm a firm believer in "the right of the people to keep and bear arms" and believe I'm being realistic, when I state that we do not live in the Garden of Eden nor in times where we would only turn the other cheek when confronted with a violent act.
Gone are the days when airplanes could be boarded with the only concern being that there might be some mechanical malfunction, or when the doors of homes were left unlocked, when the windows were without iron bars or when we didn't HAVE to own a registered gun for protection.
Countries which have outlawed private possession of guns are run by a corrupt government. Hardcore criminals ALWAYS find a way to have a gun of their own. They break into the law abiding citizen's homes, rob and sometimes even shoot them. These criminals are unafraid because they KNOW that the person does NOT own a gun. Should the homeowner have a gun hidden in his home for fear of his or her life, and shoots the criminal who enters the home, in self-defense, then the homeowner goes to prison. Gun Control is an evil which leaves good citizens unable to defend themselves. NEVER permit this constitutional right to bare arms to be taken away from us.
