Bathtub injury

January 15, 2007
Time: Approximately 10:30 AM

I went into the bathroom, and took off all my clothes. I turned on the knobs to the hot and cold water, then leaned foreward, placing my left hand on top of the edge of the tub, (I’ve done this a million times) and with my other hand, I let the water run through my fingers to test the temperature before turning the shower knob. My left hand slipped and I fell. The left temple of my forehead landed on the water spout. I then continued to fall and ended up twisted on the back of my head and back, and with my ass up in the air. I almost blacked out, but forced my not to. What kept going through my head as I lay there stark naked, and all twisted up, was the fear of dying, and have EMS break down my bathroom door and finding me in that horrible freakish position!!! I would have turned in my grave from embarrassment. With my luck, they would have had a digital camera and my most unflattering picture would have been splattered all over the internet, and perhaps the world news!

The fall didn't cut into my temple and scalp, but I have a huge oblong bump, the size of a huge marble on my temple. I’m fine, but my head hurts terribly and I’m sure I’ll live. Weee!

Time: 8:45 PM

I knew I had hurt my head badly, but not this bad. The bump has grown bigger and extends to half of the side of my head, from the left temple on back. Half of my forehead is a grayish GREEN, and above my right eyebrow, I have another small bump. I can’t understand why I have that little bump, when I never hit myself there. My left eye hurts and so does my left ear. My entire head hurts. I haven’t taken a Tylenol because I don’t want to hide any of the pain. I want to be aware exactly what’s going on.

All this turned out to be a pretty nasty tumble. Let’s see how I do tomorrow. If things still don’t look good, I’ll go see my doctor.

Please kids, be cautious when your either going into the shower, or are in the shower that you don’t slip and fall. I was only bending over the tub when I fell, and hurt myself badly. Now I can see how deadly it can be when we slip and fall while we’re totally standing up.

I called my darling friend Lolly, and she rushed over and stayed with me all day long, and just barely left about an hour ago. Glory said she’d come over and spend the night with me to make sure I was alright. Grandpa made me some Cream of Mushroom Soup. Norma wanted to come and stay also, but I told her it wasn’t necessary because Glory was staying with me.

I’m so blessed to have three of the most wonderful friends in the world.
