VOTE REPUBLICAN

VOTE REPUBLICAN
November 7, 2006

As you all well know, I've been giving a great deal of thought to this election. I was sure I'd vote Democrat, and even made a Democrat icon for myself, but I've changed my mind. [info]mfree provided a link in my last post, which made an awful lot of sense to me.

I spoke with my brother last night, the one who will be going to Iraq in December, and asked him if he and the rest of the soldiers believed in this war and he said yes. I asked him if the decision were up to him, would he choose not to go to Iraq, and he said he would still go, as would the rest of our soldiers.

Although, I realize my vote will not matter, I'm made up my mind, and will not change it anymore, and vote Republican. This also means I stand behind President Bush 100%. This is not a war on Iraq, but a world wide war on TERROR. If we stop this war now, it will surely mean the death of America!

Another thing, I DO NOT want to pay higher taxes with all the FREEBIE programs the Demos will create, and I DO NOT want to lose my guns, and I will lose them if the Democrats take over!

Many of you helped me make my final decision, and among them were [info]daddy
[info]hajiomatic wrote this comment in a past post of mine, and it really made allot of sense, and touched my heart greatly:
"I've missed everything for the last 18 months.
I'm over here so my 15yo and 13 yo won't have to.
I'll be damned if I leave it up to them 'cause I didn't do it right.....the first time."

I'm with you! Not to mention they fear/hate progress, as well as they are notorious for the wasting of tax payer dollars.

I don't think supporting your brother and troops in Iraq means you need to vote Republican. But, whatever.

If we stop this war now, it will surely mean the death of America!

Uh, you'd better check up on this idea, because as I understand it, the schools that teach these young fundamentalist Muslims teach them they have all of eternity. They're not thinking about tomorrow.

We need, as a people, to realize that these ideas are spreading throughout the world, and work with those tools.

I support the troops, but I do not support the war, and I am most certainly not going to vote for the bums that railroaded America into fighting this unnecessary war.

I have to say that picking a party is like picking a religion. I think both should be avoided because doing so tends to lead to narrow minded thinking. Some republicans are good people, some democrats are good people, some libertarians are good people, some communists are good people. Now feel free to substitute bad for good in the above statement and it makes as much sense as before.

It is very difficult to make a truely informed decision on a candidate these days because they are so often prone to changing their viewpoints to fit the demands of the public. Good luck with your decision. I'll keep mine to myself though.

P.S. I just can't be friends with you anymore. With your ability to change your mind every three seconds based on a link that some idiot LJer posts ... well, that just doesn't seem like real independent thinking to me. I have values and morals beyond what some republicans can fathom and I just can't stab them in the back. I have friends that do not deserve what the conservative party has done and will do with more power.

I'm sorry. I'm outta here.

Bottom line is that both sides are corrupt and owned by Korporate Amerika. But the Repugs are still far worse. Read this and then see if you still wish to vote Repug.

And ask your brother what he thinks of the war when he's been in Iraq for six months.

And don't think the Repugs won't take your guns, babe. Remember New Orleans. The first thing that happened was the National Guard and NOLA/PD confiscating guns from law abiding private citizens in their own homes.

Wanna keep yer guns? Work with me on convincing progressives that an armed citizen is a free citizen

so money "wasted" on "freebie" programs is worse than money wasted on a war that we can't win where people are dying? that's so dumb.

and no one is going to take away your guns. that's just a red herring to keep you voting republican.

And I see the brain washing isn't only from the anti-war camp. Fuck. Places like Chicago, New York City, California, Washington DC, etc etc show your statement to be full of shit. Please drive through.

I don't base my friends on how they vote, their religion, the color of their skin or sexual preference. That said I applaud your candor and openness to change your opinion which shows you're capable of thinking and evaluating on your own and you don't follow the popular drumbeat. I vote for people that support the issues that are important to me, my family, my friends and my country. I for one support not because I agree 100% but because at least you'll vote where others will only talk.

Thank you! I don't base friendship on those things, either.

I love having friends who agree with my view points, but I also love having friends who disagree with mine, because I have found that I have learned things from them that I wouldn't have, had I not taken the time to try and see things their way.

All in all, I do have a mind of my own. In real life, I am much liked, and I attribute that to always being open-minded about EVERYTHING!

Well the Armed Forces Newspapers (Army,Navy,Air Force, and Marines) will be running an article tonight in all of their publications calling for the resignation of Rumsfeld. I read this on CNN a couple of days ago, they leaked it out to the associated press. Apparently, not everyone in the service agrees with Iraq. And I agree with them, I also do not believe a person should be allowed in Rumsfield position unless they are career military personal. It makes as much sense as making a horse breeder the head of FEMA.

I believe Rumsfield must have great in his younger years. But now, at 70 something, I feel he should never have been placed in the position has been.

Nope. Never. Not ever. Not a chance in hell. The current GOP stands for everything I despise: hatred, fear, demagoguery, divisivness, sexism, homophobia, violence and death.

George Bush to me is a spoiled, stupid rich kid who was first handed the presidency because of Daddy's money and was then handed the presidency on the basis of the fear he and his Admin created in our population. May the entire Administration and it's cronies burn in hell.

Actually, this is the first time I'll vote democrat instead of wing nut fringe (Libertarian). Simple reason is that no party should control the Presidency and both houses of the government. When they do, they can railroad their own agenda through too easily. They don't have to get broad support and stop trying content to polarize the country 51% versus 49%. Which means their programs are unthought out, and unlikely to be supported in the next adminstration so are a waste of money.

As for the war, you cannot win a "War on Terror". A war against an idea or thing, cannot be won (see War on Drugs). While the war in Iraq had the possiblity of helping the Isreali situation (since Iraq was a major funder of anti-Isreal groups), it causes other problems. The entire thing was not planned very well if planned out at all, and what was planned out seems to have been ignored because it was not favorable (see Lawrence Lindsey). Still, it was this adminstrations die to cast, and they did so. History will tell.

My major oppostion to the current government is their attack on freedoms and disreguard for restraint. Spying on US citizens, torture, and avoidence of proper leagal course of actions make me fear my government. They may be for this "war on terror" but remember that the powers that Nixon abused for his own purposes were put in place due to the "War on Communism". The current administration does not lack power to properly fight the "war on terror" they lack funding. We had enough intelligence and power to stop 9/11, but what we lacked was the manpower to process it all. Yet, they only want more power which they cannot properly use. Even if this administration doesn't abuse it (whch i think thy already have), there is no garentee that a future one won't. Remember that the gun registration information that the nazis used to disarm the civilian population in the 30's was put in place in effort to keep the Nazis from coming to power.
