Penny was in the hospital for 7 days, and even that couldn't save her. I finally had to have her put to sleep because she was suffering so much. It was one of the saddest moments of my life. The only time I ever felt my heart literally crush, was when my grandma died.

I brought her home and placed her in one of my tiny suitcases, along with her favorite Winnie the Pooh blanket and buried her right under my bedroom window.

Thank goodness that I still have Mickey and Jewely, they have made it a little easier in coping with my pain.

I could have had Penny for a few more years, but I made the mistake of not only feeding her dog food, but human food, also. She got fat and became a couch potato, which in turn, she became a diabetic. I've learned from my mistakes and now only feed Mickey and Jewely dog food which I purchase from my vet.

OH, wow
I'm so sorry to learn of your loss. I know your pooches mean so much to you.

Luckily, as you noted, you have two other very supportive wee beasties. And the positive thing you got
out of it was a change in diet for Mickey and Jewely, so that hopefully they'll live long and happy lives.

Take care!

Re: OH, wow
I learned an important lesson at the expense of my most loved little dog. I am much more careful with the others. Whenever you have a chance, go to the enclosed link, where you'll find the whole clan, except for CUJO, which will appear soon!

I've already told them that they'll be having a friend over, so they will be at their best behavior. I hope they bring a big smile to your face!

I just did that "Find out who on LJ has the most common interests to yourself" thing, and you came up as my number one. Just saying hi. *S*

That's weird, same thing here, Playgirl was #1 on my list, so i just looked her up, and i find a bunch of people did the same... weird.

And so sorry to hear about your little Penny - I recently lost my beloved cat, so I know what it's like.

Losing a pet
I feel so bad for you about your Penny. I have a cat, Spooky, who will be 18 next month. Over the last 10 months, he's been in frail health, but the vet insists he is still healthy, just old. I know the day is coming when he won't be with me any more. I can't imagine it - he's been with me longer than my husband, my son, and any current close friends.

If you decide you want someone to take Penny's place (of course no one can, but you know what I mean), I wish you the best of luck! After my parents had to put their 14 year old dog, Fluffy, to sleep back in '93, my dad said no more dogs because it's just too painful. It IS painful, I won't deny that. But I wouldn't give up the 18 great years I've had with Spooky just to avoid the pain I will feel when he's gone!
