The first thing that came to my mind was, "6-6-06!
I should have stayed home!" Just couldn't stop saying,
"HOME, HOME, HOME." I looked and sounded much like E.T.
I almost had an accident. Well, actually, I did have a car accident. It was a fender bender and it was MY fault. Had I stepped on the gass just a TINY bit harder, I would have been killed or seriously injured. There is no doubt about it.
I was at this intersection, looked both ways, saw no cars on either side, pushed on the gas peddle and BAM!! I saw the car pass me, its rear giving off hundreds of little sparks, and barely making it to the side of the curb. I crossed the street then hit the brakes. I was quite shaken up. Where in the hell did that car come from, I kept asking myself. Did I hurt that person? Did I do a lot of damage to his car? Did I do a lot of damage to my car? Are the police going to be called? Is he going to attack me verbally? How much is my insurance rate going to escalate? I lost total control and started crying (believe me, these were no crocodile tears!). The car pulled up and parked right in front of me. He got out and asked me if I was alright. I told him yes. I asked him if he was alright. He said yes.
I walked up to him, and then started rubbing his arms and shoulders, and then I looked at his car. I had broken the rear bumper and done some damage to the part right next to his rear tire. I looked at my car and found that I had totally scrapped the entire front fender. I couldn’t stop crying, telling him that I was so sorry!! This went on for quite a while. He told me that material stuff was irrelevant, what mattered most was that we weren’t hurt. The more he tried to console me, the more I cried. I told him that I would pay for the damages and he said no.
I told him exactly where I lived and he told me his house was right on the corner on the next street from mine. He took me into his arms and I grabbed onto him for dear life and we gave each other big bear hugs. We each got into our cars and drove off.
By and by, this wonderful man is a WWII veteran! He has some incredible true stories for me, and I will share them with you just as soon as I he shares them with me.
All I can say is, should I ever have another fender bender accident like the one I had today, I want my victim to be just kind as this one! Looks like all the lucky gizmos I carried in my purse today kept the evil spirits away!
Just as soon as I got home, I made one of my most favorite things to eat; an Ego cheese, jalapeno, sugar free syrup sandwich which helped calm my nerves. I will not be step foot outside of my house again, until tomorrow!
