A Love Affair With Death

There are times when I cannot stand the living, and yesterday was one of those days, so I went to one of my favorite places, where I always find peace, Concordia Cemetery and conversed with the dead.

I sat for hours on this bench in front of the grave of one of the deadliest outlaw gunslingers of the old west, John Wesley Hardin, and let my imagination run wild. I read to those peaceful souls who surrounded me, poems of love and sonnets of death, from my two favorite Chilean Poets, Pablo Neruda and Gabriela Mistral, and Argentinean Alfonsina Storni.

I totally lost track of time, and before I knew it, the day had suddenly grown into dusk.

I drove back home, took a sleeping pill, went to bed, and thought of all the dead, until I too, became one of them as I drifted into a deep peaceful sleep.Read more... )
