I agree with you
If everyone in New Orleans has been armed, the criminals could not have run ruffshod all over them, and the authorities could not have backed them down. Th is is why if I ever evacuate there is .357, 9mm, and 12 gauge going with me, with at least 100 rounds a piece. They are as important as water and food.

Now in the other end, I am going unarmed down to the Red Cross camp. I will be there 21 day helping any which way possible. However the Red Cross will not set up where it is dangerous. Their goal is to get people out of danger. So they contract private security and shang hai police to patrol their shelters.

In my experience, firearms are ok, but other weapons are a lot more effective as a deterrant of violent actions.

Once while I was living in Baltimore, I managed to disarm a young wanna-be thug, by brandishing 2 knives. The average person on the street has no concept of how effective a thrown knife can damage them.

Myself, if I had to evacuate an area, I will be taking my swords with me(as well as a few throwing knives).

Tha actions of law enforcement personnel were appalling and a disgrace. They should be ashamed of themselves.
