The War

One of the reasons terrorists destroyed the twin towers of the World Trade Center was to destroy America’s economy. At this point, I believe they’ve come close to accomplishing this.

I cannot even begin to fathom the amount of money that has been spent on war since that horrible day. Sure, I was one of those who wanted the U.S. to go after Bin Laden and destroy him, but we ended up in Iraq instead of Afghanistan. Now the war switches to Afghanistan, and I see no end of war in sight.

I want this war to stop now. I want the killing of our American soldiers to stop now, and I want them back home now. I want ALL THIS MONEY THAT'S BEING SPENT ON WAR stopped now, so this country can spend it in building back up this country that’s falling apart. America's infrastructure is falling apart. People continue losing their jobs, their homes, not to mention their dignity.

What have we the American people gained from this endless war?
What have the 911 terrorists gained from their 911 attack?

I want this war to stop right NOW!

Thoughts please.

It's unbelievable the amount of money that's been spent on death instead of life.

imagine if they used that money properly...

I don't want to imagine, because I'll cry even more.

War makes A LOT of money for people.

It'll never end as long as corporations are considered people with the right to buy congress.

Ever read "1984?" You should if not.

As each day passes, I see more clearly, and it scares me to death.

I'll do my best to read it.

Don't do your best, READ IT.

Its an important piece of literature that will OPEN YOUR EYES to "endless war" (aka "war on terrorism.)

Scary thing is, the book was written A LONG TIME AGO.

AGREED!! 1984 is a fantastic book so is Animal Farm. Its surprising how close 1984 parallels the current regime.

I'd say the "1984" parallels started with the Bush era actually. "War on terrorism" equals war with East Asia, or was it actually...

:)

And yes, "animal farm" too!

When was then last time you read 1984? You may wish to go back and read it again. It could not be closer to the Obama administration if it was named Obama's World. and as for your other comment to me about Israel, that was deleted real quick, It shows that you know little about the International community and have no appreciation for our allies in the world stage. Israel is our only real friend in the fertile crescent area.

It was deleted because it wasn't worded right AND I decided opening that can of worms in someone else's journal wasn't proper livejournal behavior.

We're never leaving Iraq. Ever. Not as long as we believe there's oil underneath all that sand.

As far as Afghanistan, two words: Rethink Afghanistan.

I can't find the words to express the horror and disgust we as human-beings have become.

In my ignorant mind, I always thought we lived in a democracy. It's obvious we the people want all this to stop. I now ask myself, who are these handful invisible entitie that are running not only our country, but the world.

I feel so sorry for all those people who are suffering so much, and sorry for ourselves, because we don't have the power to stop it.

We're all just little puppets, huh?!

I think the military presence in Iraq needs to end...

But Afghanistan needs to be crushed.

I honestly believe it's an impossibility for Afghanistan to ever be crushed.

War must end
We have failed in ever aspect that counts in the wars. I think it should have been retribution, but we turned it into nation building. I say start leaving now. ON the way out destroy every bridge, railroad, dam, power plant and communications, and tell them that is for supporting Bin Laden. Never go back and let Afghanistan rot in its own middle ages.

Hey we agree! Lets stop this silly BS in Afghanistan and IRAQ. All troops HOME now. Tell all those rag headed bastards that if they wanna kill their own people have at it! but in they try to extend their bullshit outside of their own little sand box OR to Israel we will come back and do a number on their asses just like Black Jack Pershing did. (those who are ignorant of US History can look it up!)

We also need to stop all Aid to every country that supports the Islamic radicals in any way. Including that asshole that the State Department is sending all over the middle east to raise money for his frigging Mosque in New York. While we are at it we need to fund a Hooters and a BLBT Bar across the street from that property, and the first time on of those assholes go on the roof to call anyone to prayer, Every Veteran Biker group needs to ride in front of it and rev those Harleys and eat ham sandwiches till they shut the hell up.

AND anyone who tries to push that sharia law BS will be allowed to quickly meet those 72 virgins, they always talk about.

We need to let the world know that America has BALLS again and they are not in Michelle's mouth, Then we need to clean house in DC starting with that progressive Congress then that socialist asshole who has taken more vacations in 19 months than Bush did in 8 years.

Stopping this war now is wishful thinking. It matters not if a Demo or Rep is President, this war will go on for years and years.

There's a part in the Bible (can't recall where) where it says something to the effect that when people help those in need, their own land will thrive, and hunger will never be known to them (those who give). I honestly believe this country has always been blessed by God because we as Americans are a giving and compassionate people.

You know that in my eyes, President Obama is trying the best he can with the mess Bush left behind.

Thank you daddy for your input. I always enjoy your rants about Obama, but they always go in one ear and out my other. I still love my forever hero (you) anyway!

1. If containing/disrupting/destroying Al Queida is our goal, why can't we create a no-mans land area surrounding their location in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Then we could focus all our attention on keeping Al Queida inside the area and we could bomb and other wise attack them.

2, I'm not optimistic that we can ever succeed in our current plan for Afghganistan.

3. This is not an excuse for not ending the war. However, if there are no wars to fight then corporations will not have large orders for expensive weapons. Won't this add significantly to unemployment and worsen the economic situation?

4. I read the book "War" and I will never get over the hell we ask our military to endure. I hope every Congress person, in fact every American, will read this book.

I believe Afganistan has unbeatable warriors, therefore, we nor any other country stands a chance fighting against them.

I don't think the unemployment would worsen if the war ended. All that money that's spent on war could be used to create jobs here.

I'll add that book to my list of must read.

I want this war to stop right NOW!
I would like to know why we are there myself. The Russians failed miserable and I suspect we will also. Besides from what I read we are doing it in a half assed manner, no real leadership at the top. So lets get the hell out of there and let the primatives have their country back.

Re: I want this war to stop right NOW!
I've known from the very beginning that the war in Afganistan would be impossible to win for so many reasons.
