PICTURES OF THE SAFE & OH SO SICK

First of all, I started getting very sick late Tuesday night. I never got out of sofa until yesterday morning. I had a horrible sore throat which also made my feel like it was covered in sand, which produced a cough that was pretty violent. I also had a fever so high that caused me to hallucinate. I didn't eat or drink water until yesterday morning, because I started feeling a little better. When I looked in the mirror, I saw a stranger’s face that didn't have an ounce of blood, and the hair looked as if someone had sprayed it with oil and water. I stank horribly, also. I'm still pretty weak, but am quickly regaining my health again. I was so sick, that I had no idea Ted Kennedy had passed away until yesterday morning. Since then, I've been watching everything about the Kennedy's on TV. My heart goes out to all the Kennedy's for the loss of such a wonderful man.

For a while there, I honestly thought I had somehow caught the Swine Flu.

Most of you have seen the little Retirement Fund jar I bought at the 2nd hand store for about 50 cents. As you can see, I managed to start off with this amount towards the day I will retire.

I'm happy to show you how much more I've managed to add to my little nest egg since then. At this rate, by the time retirement day comes, I'll seriously be living high off the hog!

I had seen this safe a few years ago, and liked it so much back then, that I even took a pic of it. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine I'd someday be the owner of this monstrosity that I consider a treasure.

INFORMATION ON SAFE:

The Howe Scale Co

Gibraltar 252639

When I took off the steel sheet from the door, I found it was covered with something black, and something white that looked like a sheet of concrete or maybe plaster of paris, and the number 28 written in black paint

The inside: Wood interior shelves with antique carpet flooring

The size: 27 feet wide, 32 feet high from wheels to top, 26 from front to back

I was told by the towers that it could very possibly weigh at least 1 ton, if not more.

The man that sold it to me said it belonged to his father who died at age 92, and when his father bought it was already pretty old.

I've posted many tiny pics. All you have to do is click right next to the thumbnail where it says CLICK HERE where it will take you to the large version of each picture.

Thank you for those links. They were a big help in learning some information on my safe.

After looking at the pictures of my safe, do you now see why I wouldn't want it in my house? Not only because it's so heavy, but because it's so darn ugly.

Did you know that you kind of remind me of Saint Joseph?! Why? Because you seem to love carpentry, and are obviously wonderful at it. Another thing, when some complicated problem arises, you investigate it and continue to do so until you've solved the problem. Did you know that people like you are a rare?

Thank you so much for all the help you've given me! You're an Angel.

Wow, that's a beautiful antique! That said, if you're not locking in your house, I wouldn't recommend storing it outside. Especially if the lock was openable very quickly without knowing the combination.

I'm so glad you like it.

It will have to stay outside, because it's so heavy, and so beautifully ugly!

I plan having a slab of cement put in this certain space that in the same area where you see the safe, then having a porch type thingy built over it to protect it from the weather. I won't have anything of real value in it. The only thing I've been thinking now is, that there were a lot of men who towed it to my house. I hope one of them won't think I'll be storing a few bucks in it.

As for your pocket, I'm so happy!!!

As long as you're doing better, that's what matters.

Wow, that's some safe. Where are you going to put that thing?

I see your cooler in the background. Working? Cleaned up?

And you. How's your weekend?

You know what? I have no earthly idea where I'm going to put it. I do know that that monstrosity won't be entering my house.

I just haven't had the time to get to my Coca Cola machine to clean it up. The safe itself took me and Grandpa forever to clean, and still it looks dirty.

Thank you for asking. Just about my whole week days, and week-end have been spent in my computer room where I'm either laying flat on my sofa watching TV, or on my computer. Grandpa has been giving me lots of diet Pepsi, and Campbells celery soup.

Big bear hugs!!

No, not cool at all. And to think it's still as hot as can be around here!

I'm glad you liked my safe.

Hugs and kisses!

*sends vibes to make the cough go away*
Coughs are the worst thing to have.
You will be all better soon and dragons are never wrong. ;)

Good choice of valuables
My own safe which is far smaller has equally strange priorities. Never what people call valuable, but what I consider valuable.

Re: Good choice of valuables
Isn't it funny the things we find most valuable in our lives? That money has nothing to do with it, but only those little things which have no value to anyone else but to ourselves?

Hugs!

I just can't understand why I got sick that way, since it's so hot and sunny around here.

I've been taking it very easy these days, and I thank God I have Grandpa who just won't stop spoiling me to death! :o)

Thank you Sweet Pie!
