Bathtub injury

January 15, 2007
Time: Approximately 10:30 AM

I went into the bathroom, and took off all my clothes. I turned on the knobs to the hot and cold water, then leaned foreward, placing my left hand on top of the edge of the tub, (I’ve done this a million times) and with my other hand, I let the water run through my fingers to test the temperature before turning the shower knob. My left hand slipped and I fell. The left temple of my forehead landed on the water spout. I then continued to fall and ended up twisted on the back of my head and back, and with my ass up in the air. I almost blacked out, but forced my not to. What kept going through my head as I lay there stark naked, and all twisted up, was the fear of dying, and have EMS break down my bathroom door and finding me in that horrible freakish position!!! I would have turned in my grave from embarrassment. With my luck, they would have had a digital camera and my most unflattering picture would have been splattered all over the internet, and perhaps the world news!

The fall didn't cut into my temple and scalp, but I have a huge oblong bump, the size of a huge marble on my temple. I’m fine, but my head hurts terribly and I’m sure I’ll live. Weee!

Time: 8:45 PM

I knew I had hurt my head badly, but not this bad. The bump has grown bigger and extends to half of the side of my head, from the left temple on back. Half of my forehead is a grayish GREEN, and above my right eyebrow, I have another small bump. I can’t understand why I have that little bump, when I never hit myself there. My left eye hurts and so does my left ear. My entire head hurts. I haven’t taken a Tylenol because I don’t want to hide any of the pain. I want to be aware exactly what’s going on.

All this turned out to be a pretty nasty tumble. Let’s see how I do tomorrow. If things still don’t look good, I’ll go see my doctor.

Please kids, be cautious when your either going into the shower, or are in the shower that you don’t slip and fall. I was only bending over the tub when I fell, and hurt myself badly. Now I can see how deadly it can be when we slip and fall while we’re totally standing up.

I called my darling friend Lolly, and she rushed over and stayed with me all day long, and just barely left about an hour ago. Glory said she’d come over and spend the night with me to make sure I was alright. Grandpa made me some Cream of Mushroom Soup. Norma wanted to come and stay also, but I told her it wasn’t necessary because Glory was staying with me.

I’m so blessed to have three of the most wonderful friends in the world.

Glad to see that you are more or less ok. You may still want to have that looked at in case something inside the skull got damaged from the impact. that you may not see. And also have someone check on you throughout the night.

Grandpa and my friend Glory kept an eye on me all that night. I'm doing much better.

Thank you for caring, and you take care of yourself, too, 'cause I want you in my LJ life for oodles of years!

I'm glad your okay.

Quite a few household injuries occur in the bathroom and kitchen. I am guilty of doing the same thing with adjusting the water in similar position. Time to find a new way of doing it now.

Thank you, I'm doing fine.

Don't ever check the water temperature as I did. Without my realizing it, the edge of the bathtub was wet, so when I place my whole weight with my hand on it, I slipped. It happened so fast. Everything was against me, because my right hand was extended across my chest, criss cross like, as I checked the water temperature, so I had no hands to extend fast enough to make the fall less forceful.

Don't ever check the water temperature in this way again! Look what happened to me.
Hugs!

Dammit!! OUCH....before you go to sleep you should have someone call you partway through the night, just to check on you......we want you to wake up....

You never know when you are gonna have an accident....I busted my ankle on two places once just walking out the door.....

Ouch is right! I still can't believe a simple slip caused so much pain, but I'm doing so much better with each passing day.

Sometimes we take our bodies for granted and think they can come through perfectly even when we move them so recklessly.

I hope that ankle mended properly, and you have my prayers that you never hurt yourself again!!

Awww

Be careful, my dear. I know that this was something you couldn't help, for slipping hands aren't always in our plans, but I don't want you taken away from us!

For this reason, reconsider the marriage proposal I gave you (in your marriage post)so that I'll always be in the next room to lift your naked body up :)

EMS would not take pictures of you unless some sort of abuse/assault took place and even then the police would probably take those pics. As much as we want to take pics sometimes we always have to protect your privacy.

You should have called EMS. :/ You really need to get to the ER and have your head checked (pun intended, har-dee-har). You need a cat scan to make sure everything is ok and that it's just a nasty bump. Please don't wait because your primary care physician is just going to send you anyway to cover his butt and make sure there isn't any serious damage. Let me know how it goes.

You should have called EMS. :/

Most of us girls are so terribly vain when it comes to death. We fantasize that when we die, we’re found as beautiful and sexy as can be! For real!!

Had I fallen and remained in a gorgeous position, kind of like Snow White after she ate the poisoned apple, I wouldn’t have minded EMS finding me stark naked and dead! The thing is, I fell and landed in a way that was so ridiculous! I mean, I just didn’t look sexy at all!! Haaaaaa

I’m doing so much better. Thank you for caring, I really appreciate it! And please, you take care of yourself, too, because I want you in my LJ life for many years to come!

Just wait till it turns yellow.

And you may want to go to the doctor and get it checked out. You probably don't have a concusion, but may have cracked your skull. The bones in the area of the temple are pretty thin.

It turned green! Then the color gray! Now it's a color I can't describe! It still hurts like hell when I touch the remains of the bump. But I'm doing seem to be doing much better.

Thanks for caring Sweety Pie, I really appreciate it!

Please kids, be cautious
I agree with everybody else here: Sorry to hear you clunked your head, and PLEASE go to the ER.

That additional bump concerns me: if you don't recall an impact, you may have some memory loss.

Prayin' for you, dear!

I'm doing much better.

What was so scary about this, is the fact that I only feel a few feet down, and cause so much damage. Can you imagine some one falling in the shower while standing up? For the first time, I now see the shower as a possible death trap.

Always be EXTRA careful when showering. Learn from my experience.

I'm doing so much better!

I was worried only because the position I would have been found with, wasn't sexy at all! All my enemies would have had a field day, had I died and a pic been taken!! haaaa

Learn from me Sweety Pie, I wouldn't ever want you to go through what I did in the bathtub that day!

It really hurt!
