North Korea has tested a nuke

DUH!

I look up, I look down, I look sideways, and everywhere I look, I see a boogeyman lurking!

So EXACTLY what is it going to take for us to finally come to the (DUH) conclusion that North Korea has tested a nuke, and quite possibly a second?

With all the issues of today's world, do you feel we are all destined to doom?

Have a solution to save the world?

Es dificil saberlo, es dificil saber hacia donde vamos, pero confiemos en que la mayoria seremos sensatos para obligar a nuestros gobiernos a detener esta carrera armamentista que comienza nuevamente...

Are you trying to tell me that all my wrought iron window bars, and my 10 ft. wrought iron fence, and my all cowboy pistols aren't gonna keep the boogeyman nukey away? :o(

Dear Leader has severely pissed off his only friends in the world, the old coots in Beijing, by popping his lil' nuke. Now, South Korea, Japan, and even Taiwan, have a reasonable excuse to go nuclear themselves, which would seriously complicate matters for the PRC.

Of course, all of this could have been avoided if Los Bushanistas had actually used Diplomacy with Dear Leader, instead of talking shit and then getting our ass stuck in Iraq. *sigh*

The upshot is you ain't gonna by seeing any NK nukes your neighborhood soon, unless Dear Leader subcontracts with some of the local Coyotes. ;)

Then, we'd better start treating Mexico right, 'cause I live a skip and a holler away from dem dar hills'! And in fact, the Coyotes most likely pass right under my house each day! And with my luck, I'll be the first nuked casualty!!

Save me!! :o(

I refuse to hold anyone to blame for this except Lil' Kim. Otherwise, we wind up wasting our collective time on arguments like:

"BUSH SHOULD HAVE --"
"WELL IT'S CLINTON WHO --"
"REAGAN AND BUSH SR DID --"
"OH, BUT CARTER --"

And that does nothing right now. Later on when people are learning history in order to avoid things like this repeating themselves, yes, we can have these arguments. For right now, though, it's better to work our fingers than to point them.

point fingers
It sure looks like there will be NO solution, because those in power continue to point fingers as to who is at fault.

Some unnamed Chinese official said they were told it was supposed to be a 4 mega-ton explosion but... something malfunction and it was only about 0.5.

0.5??
Er... 0.5??

Does this mean we won't have to call off the wedding?

no we are not destined for Doom but that is what bush would like us to think that way he can keep us under his thumb, just like china has that nut under there thumb, you know maybe it is like gun control if we all have nukes then it will make us all safe?

From the biblical perspective, we are on the road to a fiery doom. Nukes are fire.

You know I want you to think of one thing and let me know what you think ,You know that god is
pure love and I don't believe that god will let this happen it may but his son died for us so that we would have free will and it is up to us
so it does not have to happen. but you are right nukes are fire,

Nah, I don't believe in "Doom". That's for people who read the Weekly World News and take it seriously.

"Hey, honey! World's ending again..."

In any case, there are two kinds of situations in life: the ones you can do something about and the ones you can't.

Worrying doesn't improve either kind.
playgirl
Oct. 11th, 2006 04:08 pm (UTC)
True - perhaps. But this problem has a solution, and worry is the best avenue in attending to it.

If North Korea is someday totally successful in accomplishing full fledged nukes, then worrying will be useless.

I personally worry about things which might have a solution. When I find there is no solution to a situation, then I do not worry at all.

At this point, we all have reason to worry.

No, I don't feel we are "destined to doom" any more now than before...that possibility is just more visible now.
playgirl
Oct. 12th, 2006 12:16 am (UTC)
More visible because of the news media?
a_phoenix
Oct. 12th, 2006 12:35 am (UTC)
No, not really. More visible because they actually did the test. Obviously the media covered it, but by doing the actual test, they showed everyone they had that capability and world opinion would not stop them from doing the test. They actually showed the world they did not care about anything other than doing what they wanted to do.

Are we actually any more unsafe now than the day before the test??? I don't think there is any difference. We just KNOW now that they will do what they want to do and world opinion won't stop them. Before the actual test, we did not know (a) if they actually could do the test, (b) if they would stop due to world opinion. The leadership of that country is no different the day after the test than they were the day before the test. The only difference is the rest of the world now knows their priorities and capabilities better.
