UPDATE: PLAYGIRL'S RECENTLY
PURCHASED EYESORE INVESTMENT HOME

UPDATE: I mentioned before that my four brothers’ and I had gotten together and purchased an ugly old house, which was dirt cheap. Well, they ALL want OUT, which as upset me very much. I've made and offer, and they have accepted. So, I will be buying each one out for $500.00 each.

This house is in shambles, but I feel I can someday do something with it, since it's located on commercial area, and pretty close to the Medical school that's being built.

I have been forced to take out a loan, since I'm so much in debt, and hopefully, will pay each one their asking price by the end of this month. I DO NOT believe in selling things that appreciate, and will try to hold on to this eyesore for as long as I can.

The medical school that's being built, has come to a stand still because of funding, but I have faith that the school will someday be completed, and this is what I'm betting on. I will soon have pictures of the inside of this house to share with you, but I must warn you, it is in horrible condition!

This is the picture of the SPOOKY house that I will have to start making monthly payments on by next month:

You really can't go wrong with real estate.

I started off by purchasing my own home, thanks to a VA loan, where I didn't have to leave a down payment. There's no way I could have bought my home otherwise.

The other houses were bought by getting together with my brothers and a cousin. We just divide, and each one of us pays our share, which isn't really all that much, because the rent payments go directly into paying the monthly payments on the houses.

It is quite stressful, and there are many nights I lay awake, because if one little thing should go wrong, I'll end up in the streets!

Maybe someday I'll share how we did it.

I really have to rent it because I have no choice. If I tried to sell it now, I'd be getting what I paid for it, if not less! If I hold on to it, I know the value will go up when the medical school is completed.

I had a huge garage built in the backyard of my own home, but it turned out to be way too big, so I had it divided, had the walls brocade, and had nice ceramic tile put on it (purchased dirt cheap in Mexico), and now rent it to a guy that's a student at UTEP. He's been renting it for almost a year and hasn't given me any problems at all.

Well, they ALL want OUT, which as upset me very much.

Payback for the pictures? Maybe, maybe not.

Anyway, that's quite the gamble you've made, there. I'd seek to have the house demolished, because a lot of the value of that property comes from that little shack. After all, you're just looking to get bought out, right?

This house is just a big gamble I'm taking, and won't be selling it for a very long time.

The medical school they are building is at a stand still, due to funds, but I'm sure it will be completed someday, and the value on the property itself will go up someday.

Most of the houses around there are just as ugly as mine, and are rented. I plan on renting this one for maybe $300.00. With that, I can make the monthly payments on the house.

Oof. I can see you do the landlord thing already, but you may want to be careful about becoming a slumlord with this property. I don't know the law in your neck of the woods, but the judges in this area can be downright sadistic with landlords whose properties aren't up to code. They'll go so far as to sentence the landlords to house arrest -- in the unkept property!

The slums are closer to down town on the south side.

The house next to it, which was about 4 ft. too close, was recently demolished. All I'll have to do is have that side of the house plaster and painted. The inside will be painted also. The plumbing is good, and although the neighborhood is very poor, it is pretty safe.

The codes are very strict around here.

Re: Entrepreneur
I just made a search on the prison you mentioned. Couldn't find a picture of it, but found this link:

That is just horrible about those poor inmates! I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you in Afghanistan?

The military takes care of its people, huh?!! :o)

I've never taken advantage of the GI Bill, but I sure did with the VA loan! Were it not for this, I NEVER would have been able to buy a home.

I think you are so incredibly interesting. I just can't get over it!

Muchas gracias, and thank YOU very much!

Re: Entrepreneur
I did use my GI Bill for a couple of months, but then had to drop out because I had to work, since I was, and still am, totally on my own. Someday I'll pay out of my own pocket for an English course, since my English skills leave much to be desired.

I was at Victory Tower.

Are you that Drill Sergeant that used to shove your nose up my nose and watch my eyes go cross eyed? Are you that Drill Sergeant who use to have me doing pushups until my hurt, every time you saw me? Are you that Drill Sergeant who would scream at me and make me cry? YUP! I remember I used to try and hide every time I'd see you, but you'd always find me and make me do 100 pushups! Haaaaaaaa

The Drill Sergeant that stands out most vividly in my mind is this woman by the name of Abrams. She was tiny, about 5' 3" and she was as mean as they came!! Oh so scary!

My favorite little song was Tiny Bubbles when doing the cadence run. :o) Which one was yours?

Tiny Bubbles

Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
In the wine (in the wine)
Make me happy (make me happy)
Make me feel fine (make me feel fine)

Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
Make me warm all over
With a feeling that I'm gonna
Love you till the end of time

So here's to the golden moon
And here's to the silver sea
And mostly here's a toast
To you and me

So here's to the ginger lei
I give to you today
And here's a kiss
That will not fade away

By and by, I hope you're not in too much danger there in Afghanistan!

Hugs Sweety Pie!
