This Is the LAST Post I'll Make In MY Journal
On This Topic Because I SAY SO!

This is the LAST post I'll make in MY journal on this topic because I SAY SO. After this, I shall resume being the OBNOXIOUSLY SILLY DILLY Playgirl of the past!

For those who find themselves enraged by the posts I make in
MY journal, then you kids just mosey along.

I give you permission to call ME whatever disgusting name you wish. I really don’t give a damn. But I DO NOT give you permission to use foul language or insulting comments to those who wish to share their thoughts and ideas on this particular topic (RESPECT IS THE KEYWORD).

NOTHING will EVER change my mind about this guy and for the
LAST time:

This guy Ehren Watada, and I WILL NOT give him the honor of calling him a Lieutenant, joined VOLUNTARILY, the U.S. Army in 2003, and would have fulfilled his active duty obligations by December of this year. His 1st attempt to resign from his commission was in January of this year. He is supposed to go with the rest of the 3,900 BRAVE soldiers by the end of this month.

I’ve been criticized terribly by a
FEW for feeling as I do, which is neither here nor there to me.

I FULFILLED for 4 years the Oath of Enlistment that I took; this is why I received an HONORABLE discharge.

There are 5 types of discharges:
Honorable, General, Undesirable, Bad Conduct, Dishonorable.

"Discipline is simply the art of making the soldiers
fear their officers more than the enemy."
- Helvetius

Ehren Watada has NOT fulfilled the Oath for Commissioned Officers he took, and this is why, if he continues to refuse orders to join the Fort Lewis-based 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, he will receive a DISHONORABLE DISCHARGE and serve time in prison. What is a DISHONORABLE DISCHARGE? It is a "Discharge from the Armed Forces for a grave offense, such as COWARDICE, murder, sabotage, or espionage."

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things.
The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic
feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight,
nothing which is more important than his own personal safety,
is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless
made and kept so by the exertions of better men (AND WOMEN)
than himself."
- John Stewart Mill

AND to make a quote from one of my MOST favorite movies, Scent of a Woman, in which Lt. Col. Frank Slade said: "Well, gentlemen, when the shit hits the fan, some guys run and some guys stay."

The Armed Forces trains its soldiers to defend themselves in battle. They DO NOT train us etiquette for a tea party. Soldiers are trained to KILL if need be. This is what military life has ALWAYS been about. It's not a place for pussy willows, that's for sure! Had the Armed Forces consisted of men like Ehren Watada, this country would NEVER have become the great and powerful country that it is, and if we start considering the acts of this man as honorable, then this country is DOOMED!

"The object of war is not to die for your country
but to make the other bastard die for his."
- George Patton

I went to college for a couple of months, and DROPPED out. I got a job once that I didn't like and I DROPPED out. Some people get married, and they get a DIVORCE. AND THAT'S THAT. BUT, when you join the Armed Forces, you MUST fulfill the oath you took. Nobody twists our arm. We do so VOLUNTARILY, knowing full well what is expected of us!

I find it INCREDIBLE that I, as well as the countless soldiers who are serving their country, would be considered Nazi’s.

Oh, and another thing, when you sign on that dotted line, you DO NOT tell them where you want to go. You go to where THEY TELL YOU TO GO.

"Now I recall the Recon Marines ragged, filthy cammie
shirted young men in green paint who move silent like
the fog with deadly purpose in their eyes. Swift,
Silent, Deadly. I smile."
- GYSGT Correll,
USMC, Retired Recon Marine

As I mentioned before, you and whoever else wishes to express their feelings here in my journal, may do so, because I'm a FIRM believer of FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. This just one of the many reasons why our AMERICAN HEROES are out there fighting for this BELOVED COUNTRY! I ONLY delete those who ask me to delete them from my Flist, as one guy DEMANDED I do so yesterday.

I've been called a BONEHEAD, an IDIOT, a GUNG HO, SICK, TWISTED, and a NAZI. I CAN handle it, thanks to the U.S. Army, who changed a snot nosed PUSSY WILLOW of little girl, into a WOMAN! Haaa! I’ve been called worse things than this in my life, and I could care a horses bucked teeth!

I am PROUD that I followed orders from my superiors in the U.S. Army! I am now a civilian, and NOBODY tells me what to do, that is, ONLY my boss, because if I don't, he'll fire me and I won't eat, and I'll end up in the streets!! Plain and simple!

Whether they are nice or insultive, I will do everything in my power NOT to reply to comments!

rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

obvious throughout our society-that women are now providing
all types of skills in every profession. The military
should be no exception."

I seemed to have missed something. I need to got back and catch up on your journal. I find that on this(and many other subject) we think very much alike.

Yes Sweety, you and I DO think much alike!

I agree, he made a committment and there isn't an out clause for things that are "hard".

If he had gone through with on combat time would he pay back the government for his tuition or other benefits he received becauase things were "easy"? I think not!
Jun. 27th, 2006 04:18 am (UTC)
Thank you!

I don't believe so, either!

Although I have mixed feelings on the issue with this soldier I MUST say that it really pisses me off when someone is disrespectful in my journal.....in other words in any journal other than their own. The only place you have a right to be a jerk in in your own journal......and there you are king/queen.

If you disagree about something someone else writes in their journal you are OBLIGATED to thread lightly, you and a guest in their house.

I am sorry there are assholes that do not respect that. I am sorry this happened to you.

BUT I am not sorry there are various opinions on this subject.
Jun. 27th, 2006 04:13 am (UTC)
That's okay, I can handle it, but yes, some people do over step their bound by express things I would never dream of doing in their journal.

Thanks Sweety Pie!

What is the US Army's current standing on sending women into battle? I ask because, while I respect your right to have an opinion, it isn't right to compare yourself to this man (or say what you would have done) if you've never (and would never have) been put in that position.
Jun. 27th, 2006 03:29 am (UTC)
it isn't right to compare yourself to this man
it isn't right to compare yourself to this man

Why isn't it right to compare a woman in Iraq to a man? Why not? Of course, it's right to compare one self with them. The second a man or a woman sets foot in Iraq, his/her life is in danger. Everyone knows what the enemy soldiers do to women captured in war. By and by, the number of women joining the Armed Forces is astounding!

If I would have been placed in that COWARD'S position, what would I have done??? I would have followed orders and gone, just as any MALE/FEMALE soldier would have done, after all that's why I took an oath to join the Armed Forces.

Women are trained for combat exactly the way men are. Women are trained to KILL exactly the same way a man is taught to kill. The only ones trained differently are the ones in infantry.

We women can do ANYTHING a man can do. I DID, as did all my female Army buddies! :o)

Rifle Range Qualification: Expert shooter on the M60 - Expert shooter on the M16 - Fired Rocket Launcher - Grenades - Hummv Driver.

Women have supportive rolls and face the same amount of danger as their male counterparts. The only place where there are all male is the snipers, and Special Forces.

I was in the same unit as Pfc. Jessica Lynch was (507) (she’s one of my HEROES), but timing was on my side, because I was given orders to be stationed in Korea. Look what happened to her. She was viciously raped and
brutally beaten, and had it not been for our BRAVE special forces rescuing her, she would have died from the horrific injuries the Iraqis caused her. She has a book which I recommend: "I Am a Soldier, Too."

I believe these are just a FEW links will answer your question about women in the military:

Go to the very bottom of this page, where you will find the pictures of women who have been killed.

The key, really, is that he enlisted voluntarily. If a soldier is drafted, then I'll support him no matter how he tries to get out of service, whether it's running away, or deserting at the first opportunity, or any other means. Military conscripts are slaves, and a slave who tries to free himself will always have my full support.

Watada signed up for whatever reasons he had, and I have little sympathy for his feelings about the war. I oppose the war strenuously, for better and more consistent reasons than he states, but he couldn't possibly not have known what he was signing up for.

The best he deserves is a dishonorable discharge.
Jun. 27th, 2006 03:41 am (UTC)
Yes, he knew exactly what he was signing up for!

This entire topic is beaten to death.

The only thing Im wondering, is why you feel it is ok for your 'friends' to call you whatever name they wish?
--"I give you permission to call ME whatever disgusting name you wish"

You say this is about respect. It sounds like youre forgetting the most important form--respect for yourself.

Thats all I wanted to say.

Sorry if this is unwelcome. Im gone.
Jun. 27th, 2006 01:09 pm (UTC)
That was me. Wasn't logged in - Duh! :o(
Of course, your thoughts ARE welcomed, and in fact, they are most welcomed!

Yes, that’s what it’s all about, respect. Although, I'm pretty tough when it comes to just about everything life tosses my way, it pains me very much to find my LJ friend's calling each other names because of some posts I’ve made, expressing my intense dislike for this certain person.

Sometimes people are filled with rage about something, and it’s good to explode, in order to release that bottled up anger, so if there’s going to be any name calling, I much rather those words of rage be directed toward me.

Thank you Sweety Pie!

I've been trying to think of something clever to say. Don't think I need to.
During the 60's (1960's LOL) a phrase was coined " Support our troops, bring them home now". Funny how it can be interpreted. I get "atta boy you support the war" and " you're a war monger, men and women are dieing for nothing and you support the war".
I still say "support our troops, bring them home now".
You don't have to agree with somone's views and beliefs to say,
Peace & Love
Jun. 27th, 2006 01:28 pm (UTC)
That's what it's all about, supporting our soldiers.
And yes, peace and love!

Hugs and Smooches!

if we're going to start locking people up in leavenworth for lying and exploiting the american public, then we need to start with the assholes up in the oval office.

I agree. Any criminal who commits a crime, should be tried, and if found guilty, be incarcerated!
Jun. 27th, 2006 04:33 pm (UTC)
I agree with you
I friended you since you had befriended my other LJ, and I liked what I read.

I agree with you about this idiot. He deserves Leavenworth for entering into the military under false pretenses, then trying to scam more of our hard earned tax dollars. He doesn't even deserve a firing squad, since that would be too quick.

When you enlist or are commissioned into the military, it is understood that the main goal of the military is to fight wars, right or wrong, based on decisions our administrative branch of the government made. I don’t agree with the war, but that isn’t the issue here, even though I support our troops.

It is also well known that when wars are fought, people die. It is a cold hard fact.

This individual reminds me of guys who got off our ship, right before a deployment to the Med for 6 month, for saying that they were gay. There was only 1 guy who had my sympathy for trying it. He’d just been told his dad had less than 6 months to live. The others, I had no sympathy for.

Thanks to my 12 years of navy service, I tend to have a different view about these people than most civilians. Most of that view comes from honoring the vows I took when I enlisted. The navy trained me for 2 years to learn how to operate nuclear reactors, and I had to agree to serve for at least 4 years after that. I ended up doing 10 more, before getting out for medical reasons.

I got an honorable/medical discharge, and I was able to show that to my dad with no worries. His history was 4 years of navy followed by 20 in the army. He also spent 1 &1/2 years in Viet Nam. My grandfather, had he been alive, would have had no problem with it either, since he was army air corps., then the air force. My great grandpa was a cavalry soldier, just to give you a little bit of my family’s background.

My bottom line is this: He doesn’t deserve even a BCD, until he pays back what he was given, either through serving honorably, or hard time.

Re: I agree with you
You know what? I was very surprised by the reaction many had by my beliefs. I wasn't expecting it and must admit that I'm quite saddened by it.

I feel this man has made a mockery of the Armed Forces. I find him disgusting for not coming right out and admitting that he is a coward.

When I made these past few posts on this topic, I surfed many patriotic pages, and my heart was broken by the thought that so many have such negative feelings for our soldiers. My father was in the Army and my brother is, too. He will be going to Iraq in November. Now I'm asking myself why should he go, if many of the American people have so little regard for them. All of the sudden, I am so saddened and confused.

Thank you for accepting me as your LJ friend, I appreciate it!
Yes, thank you my American Hero!
