THE DAY I ALMOST DIED IN KOREA - PART SIX

Yes, I almost died in Korea, but it wasn't from some valiant deed that would have earned me a medal for saving the world. Had I died, my body would have probably been used as an experiment to see what the hell had happened! haa!

I was asleep in my barracks room, when I woke up in the middle of the night feeling horrible with a high fever and escruciating pain in my head and the nerves in my spine. Every nerve was enflamed, and couldn't move my neck. I dragged myself out the bed, when I could not stand because I couldn't stand the agonizing pain anymore.

To this day, I just don't know how I made it to the hospital that night. I came so close to passing out, as I kept walking, trying to make it to the hospital. I honestly thought I was going to drop and die alone and in a foreign land.

The hospital staff couldn't believe I had walked half a mile to get to the hospital on post in Camp Humphreys. From there they took me in an ambulance to another hospital located in a camp called youngsun which is locatd in the capitol city of Seoul. Although, I was close to death, I find it strange that I could smell the ambulance driver, who reeked of Kimch, and had to endure the awful smell for 2 hours, as he drove me to the hospital in Seoul.

Once I arrived at that hospital, I was close to going into a seizure. They immediately knew what was wrong and did a spinal tap and had me with IV's for the 3 days I stayed there. I became frightened when they asked me if I wanted a priest! That's how sick I got!

"No one can confidently say that
he will still be living tomorrow."
- Euripides

I remained in the hospital for 3 days, while they kept a close watch on me. I couldn't even walk and there was nothing else they could do for me but let time take it course. It took me about 2 weeks to start feeling a little better.

There had been a Viral Meningitis epidemic at the DMZ. Viral Meningitis is easy to catch and I had contracted it when I had gone on tour in that area.

Playgirl has a few enemies out there in cyberspace.

Yes it was, especially when they asked me if I wanted a priest! I asked my self, hmmm...now why would I want a priest? Then it dawned on me and and said, OH, SHIT!! haaaa

I've one more page to do about Korea, where I'll have some the the souvenirs I brought back. I would love to add the link to your Korea LJ page to it. Would it be possible for you to place the link here?

So happy that you survived. That was too close.
Have you ever given much thought to the possibility
that the "Kimchee" might have helped you make it?
Just a thought.

Yes it was, I actually saw a tunnel full of light!

And you're right, it probably was the smell of that awful Kimch that saved my life! Damn, I sure would have hated kicking the bucket with that horrible smell in my nose!

Thank you Sweety Pie!
Hugs and Smooches!

Yes it is, especially when it has somehow entered your head and body, while you’re in a far off land.

Viral Meningitis
If I would have been there I would have carried you that half mile. But you probably would have been in worse condition since I am only allowed to touch you from the neck up. ;)

Glad you made it!

Re: Viral Meningitis
Okie dokie, so you would have saved my life by carrying me that awful half mile, but since I have that stupid rule about the neck thingy, you wouldn't have, huh?

Well, if I change it and say that you may touch me from the neck UP and the neck DOWN, will you save me the next time when myself almost kicking the bucket?

Just let me grab my hat, 'cause I'm on my way PRONTO to change that ridiculous rule on my user info page! ;o)
