BEWARE OF CREDIT CARD THEFT!

BEWARE OF CREDIT CARD THEFT!

I got a call yesterday at work from American Express.

Apparently, someone got my card number, changed my address and phone number, then went and used it to buy over $23,000.00 worth of merchandise.

I do not have to pay it, and they will be sending me a new card with a different number. American Express is the very BEST!

This got me so scared, that I made a call to Visa, and asked them if there were charges on my card. They said no, only for a couple which I had made for just a few dollars. I ended up paying for extra protection from potential card theft. I will pay about $99.00 per year for this added protection. American Express charges ZERO for protection!

I must have both American Express and Visa because for my business. I do a lot of business transactions on the internet, and this is where someone got my American Express number. There are some places who don't take American Express, and only Visa or MasterCard.

Please, be very cautious when using your card, whether it be through your local business establishment or on the internet!

Wholeheartedly, I RECOMMEND AMERICAN EXPRESS! THEY ARE INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL!

Frightening indeed!

I'm so glad it happened with American Express, because I won't have to pay a penny of it, only the things I did charge. Had it been through my Visa, I believe things would have been different.

But, I've now insured protection on both Visa and Mastercard. I do have to pay much more, but it's much better than having to fork over thousands of dollars, stolen from criminals.

I'll be replying to you very soon, in that certain post.
Hugs!

Absolutely scary!

That was a hell of a lot of money! One of the purchases was at Circuit City, where they purchased over $6,000.00 worth of merchandise. The other was at some place where they bought sterio equipment!

I recommend AMERICAN EXPRESS for complete safety and peace of mind!

Wasn't logged in! Always manage to forget!
I've gotten those in the past, especially from Citi Bank. I immediately contacted them and forwarded the email they'd sent me.

When I was very new at this thing called the internet, I had AOL. I fell for a major scam, because I had absolutely no experience, nor did I realize that there were some who feed off the stupid, and I WAS stupid. Someone sent me something, pretending to be AOL and ask for all my personal information, including my credit card number. I gave it to them!!!

Time passed, then I got my bill and it showed that someone had charged about $800.00 off of it. I had a hell of a time taking care of it. In the end, I didn't have to pay, but got rid of AOL AND that card.

I'm sticking to American Express, I'm totally satisfied with them.

I'm okay now. I've taken care of this problem and it has been totally resolved!

Thanks Sweety Pie!
Kisses!

I do believe you're right.

The only way I could protect myself from
any future attempts of theft with my card
was to pay a yearly fee of $99.00 for
some program that protect's me.

American Express doesn't expect one penny from you.

All it takes it a waitress who is a thief. She (or he) takes your card, goes into the bathroom, writes down all of your card info, then goes and processes the card at the machine.

We trust the lowest paid people with our credit cards. We also trust the youngest people... the same people we wouldn't trust to watch our kids or borrow our car. ;P

American Express is the best. I don't have to pay for anything, only for what I purchased myself. The person who did this, will be caught for sure. American Express has reported it to the authorities.

My address and phone number were changed by the thief, and I'm sure the police will be at the address where the merchandise was to be sent.

Your words are very true. I never thought about it that way.
Yes, it sure is easy to have someone get your card number.

That is prety scary. I got my yahoo account hacked once. I was freaking out because that stupid yahoo stores the credit card info. I ended up having to get a new card. Glad things worked out so quickly.

Yes, I am glad, too.

I wonder what the outcome would have been,
had it happened on my Visa Card.

Scary isn't it, when some stranger does something like that to you!

American Express is the best!

Not exactly sure what might have happend dealing with the company it'self. I have a visa through my credit union and i called them as soon as it happend. All they do is verify the last purchase you made and then cancel the card. I had considered signing up for an american express blue would you recommend that?

Absolutely!

When American Express called me yesterday to let me know what had happened, I decided to call Visa this morning to see if any strange activity had happen on my card.

Everything was fine, so I told them what someone had done with my American Express, and I they had anything that I could get, to insure I'd be protected, should someone get my card number, as they did with Am Ex.

They told me that it would cost me $99.00 per year to get it. I went ahead and agreed.

With American Express, I don't have to pay a penny. They told me to just pay what I had purchased, and they would omit those charges by the person who took my card number.

I totally recommend American Express. I have to have both American Express and Visa, because of my business. There are some places on the internet who don't take American Express.

In my next post, I will share with you the stupidity I did a while back, with American Express. It's just that I have so many different things going with it comes to making money, that I messed up royally! That is when I found out how wonderful they are, and with this recent thing with my card number being stolen by someone, there is no doubt in my mind that American Express is the best of all!
